To The Meeting

Chapter 81 by RicoLouis RicoLouis

"So who is this person were meeting?" I smiled as I glanced over at Kasar while we walked to the meeting. I had put the girls up at a tavern for the day and told them not to leave the room until I got back. I didn't really trust the crew of his ship to look after them. Aurora had told me that all of the girls where virgins like herself. The goblins picked out the girls that would sell for the most and sent them east. I didn't want to think what they did with the rest.

"A dark elf...Business man. Though not all of the businesses he run or legal but he keeps his dealings private by putting money in the right pockets. Sadly the new magistrate can not be bought so easily if at all so all of the rats are jumping ship before she brings the empires justice down on them."

"I meant what is his name.?" I shook my head at her.

"Oh, right. Nuru." She smiled. "I just hope he isn't insulted that you didn't bring coin with you."

"Let me worry about that. I have all the coin I need back at the Tavern." I lied. I had the coin purse tucked in my boot. I wasn't about leave it anywhere then on my person but I sure as hell wasn't about walk around with a jingling coin purse for appearance sake. I saw a brutish looking ogre in front of the building we were approaching. No doubt hired muscle from the look of him. He gave a nod to Kasar and we walked in and I was surprised to see his buyer was a dark elf. I was expecting another Cat I guess.

"Nuru. It is good to see you." Kasar smiled.

"You as well." Nuru stood up as they gave each other a pat on the back. The term thick as thieves came to mind.

"This is my friend I was telling you about." She gestured toward me.

"Please sit." Nuru nodded and pulled out a chair.

"So you want my recipe on how to grow the midnight lotus." He said taking his seat. "I will gladly share it for fifty gold."

"Kasar said twenty five." I gave a look at her.

"That was before several of my men got arrested this morning. I need to get out of town tonight and I plan on taking as much money as I can with me. I literally had to kill someone to get my hands on this in the first place and it has made me a small fortune over the last several years so I am not just going to hand it over." He shrugged. I kind of expected the price to go up.

"Thirty gold. I am sure with the magistrate on the war path who ever is holding that piece of paper will have the most to loose. You get rid of it and be on your way and they will be looking for me and not you. Plus I am sure you have more then one copy." I knew like hell I wouldn't sell the only copy. I could afford his price but it would look suspicious if I just excepted his offer.

"Kasar never mentioned you knew how to haggle." He laughed at me.

"My mother was a merchant. She taught me that the first price a person gives you isn't always the least they will take."

"Smart woman. Forty gold. Final offer." He grinned.

"Forty gold it is." I offered my hand and he shook it. I went to reach for my purse when the ogre came running in.

"Guards." The brute yelled.

"Shit you set me up." Nuru drew a knife on me.

"It wasn't me." I shook my head but before I could do anything the Ogre grabbed me by the neck from behind.

"Leave him. Lets get out of here Nuru." Kasar gave me a look.

"This way." Nuru shook his head and they took off toward the back. I heard the sound of a blade leave its sheath and saw a flash of light. I grabbed his arm. Stopping the knife from plunging into my eye but the brute pressed harder as the blade grew closer. I swung my head back hitting him in the face. I managed to get free and kicked him the balls as the brute fell over crying.
