Chapter 9

Punishment? What?
Were you just kopis-napped?
Fuck Tantalus.
You weren’t particularly surprised that he denied you dinner and that he seemed to have it out for you. You could deal with going hungry, you have had more than enough unfortunate experiences in that part of life what with your mother struggling to make ends meet as a single parent. But you basically are not allowed inside your own damn Cabin until the absolute latest moment?
Did they mention he’d release the harpies that EAT demigods to enforce the crufew?
That was important.
You decided that slicing the asshole through the gut with your Kopis and laughing as he died again just wasn’t worth the trouble. The (apparent) god Dionysus - or Mr. D - didn’t really care much for you - or any of the demigods in this camp in your humble opinion - either so he idly sipped at his coke and watched. You glanced around to see if any of the campers would lend aid but frowned at them as they either dropped their gazes to their food or simply looked away. The group of demigods that the asshole had come from seemed to openly enjoy your torment and grinned at the scene.
Percy looked ready to protest and defend your case at least, and the cyclops - what the hell - looked nervously between the three of you, but you shook your head at Percy.
If he’d step in, he’d just join you in your sinking boat.
With a long inhale, you wrestled down your anger and walked away from the Dining Pavilion, ignoring the looks directed at you.
First day at camp was really something lovely wasn’t it?

You find yourself back to where you started this morning, sitting in the surf and staring at the horizon.
“Who the hell am I kidding?” You grumble, “I didn’t ask for all this and now everything is changed...”
You unbuckle your Kopis from your waist and glare at it as a flash of anger hits you.
Why now? Why you? Why is your mom dead? Why is everything your fault and everyone seems to be on your case one way or another? Why did you have to be a child of Poseidon? Why was this all happening to you? Why? WHY?
“WHY?” You scream as you pull your arm back and fling the Kopis as far out to see as you can manage.
You blink as you hear a distant splash and realize you threw one of your only weapons against monsters into the ocean.
With your water-enhanced strength.
Well shit.
“Dammit!” You mumbled as you toss yourself into the water and swim furiously towards a dark blip of something. You growl and reach again for your power, urging the water to push you forwards. You rapidly approach the speck only to realize that it wasn’t your Kopis. It was a fish.
You stop short and realize that said fish wasn’t any fish, but a shark.
A very large shark.
That cannot be good.
It turns to give you what you would swear till your dying day to be an amused look and you realized that in between it’s jaws is your Kopis.
Okay, so now you are about 95% sure your dad is fucking with you.
‘Peace, young prince.’ The shark rumbles, ‘Your father will return this blade to you in the morning.’
Your mind blanks as your realize a shark can speak to you. A shark — with no lips or tongue — is communicating in what seems to be english.
“What?” You respond eloquently.
And without so much as a by your leave, the shark swam off into the gloom of the ocean and takes your Kopis with him.

You trudge back up to your Cabin and mumble something resembling a reply Percy’s nervous greeting to faceplant into your bed and close your eyes. This day has been shit from start to finish and you are just about ready to sleep for a week.
Right before you can slip to the land of dreams, you notice somthing prodding your shoudler. You roll over and meet a single eye.
You freak out and roll off your bed.
“Whoa! Wait!” Percy cried, “This is Tyson!”
You pause, “What?”
“This is Tyson!” Percy repeats.
Your half-brother was a cyclops.
Of course.
“Hello, brother.” Tyson greets nervously.
You sigh and decide — what the hell — to take this in stride, “Hi.”
You roll over, close your eyes and sigh.
You hope tomorrow will be better.
Or you just might gut yourself to just not have to deal with anything.
The morning comes and...
