Chapter 4

What does the next day bring?
An Overwhelming Feeling of Loss
You wake up, heart aching and eyes dry and sore. You sit up and barely manage to stumble over to the bathroom as everything seems unreal and hazy. After pushing open the door you stare at yourself, taking in how you look.
In a word?
Broken.
Your mom is gone. You’re dad is a god - which probably means he won’t be able to see you much - and you have no idea exactly how to fend for yourself in the world. Bad enough you were a guy with no real direction, but now you have no idea what you SHOULD do with your life. If your tears hadn’t run out, you’d probably be crying all over again.
The door creaks open and Percy — your apparent half-brother — walks in. He blinks as he sees you and a soft sort of understanding fills his eyes and washes away the look of slight... discomfort he had around you as he slings an arm over your shoulder and gently pulls you close so you can lean on him.
“It’s never gonna stop hurting.” He says, “But it becomes bearable in time. ”
Percy let’s go and you numbly go through your morning rituals before walking down from the cabin to the sea. You know you should eeat breakfast and begin to get acclimatized to the life your going to lead at camp, but you just don’t feel hungry and you need to be alone while you mourn. You hope that being a demigod won’t make people belittle your loss, your mom was all you really had. She made home well... home.
You were still dressed in a loose t-shirt and shorts - not really able to think beyond getting up - so you can swim or stand at the beach in somewhat fitting attire. Didnt really matter, being a demigod of Posiedon meant you never got unwillingly wet. In a way, the sound of the ocean helps alleviate the ache and you wade into the water until you are able to sit waist deep in the sea. The swell of power from the contact with the ocean helps soothe away more of the emotions that plague your mind. It’s funny to think that liking the water was a hereditary trait, passed on by your father rather than anything you naturally just liked.
You don’t know how long you sit, just staring at the horizon but you’re jerked out of your reverie by someone calling your name.
Who is it?
