Intruder

It was the afternoon when Evelyn pulled up by Darcie Collins house, responding to a call of an intruder. She was standing out front, smoking a cigarette. Evelyn began her approach, wondering if the intruder was still around.

"Hey." Darcie said.

"You okay?"

"Yeah I'm okay. He's fucked off into a black sedan that was parked across the street."

"Which way?"

Darcie pointed to her right.

"Did you get his license plate?"

"Fuck... no I didn't. Looked pretty old though."

"It's okay." Evelyn grabbed her radio. "Dispatch be advised, suspect on that home invasion is driving a black sedan."

She then looked to Darcie, who put her cigarette out. "Fucking shithead."

"C'mon, let's go inside."

"Sure."

Evelyn sat Darcie down on her couch, before pulling out a notepad. "So, you okay?"

"Yeah he didn't touch me."

"So what happened?"

"Well, I was in the kitchen drinking a coffee when he entered through the backdoor. As soon as he did I threw my coffee at him and he just fucked right off into the backyard."

"Guess he got lucky knowing you."

Darcie chuckled slightly. "Yeah, and then I just saw the car speed down the street."

"So it was just him?"

"Yeah."

"Have you checked the backyard yet?"

She shook her head. "Didn't want to interfere with any evidence."

"Fair call. You get a good look at him?"

"Yeah, he was short and skinny. Dark shirt and hat, but white skin."

"Dark as in black?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Alright. Say, how would you feel about knocking up some coffees as I take a look down back?"

"That sounds like a plan."

"Cool. Could do with some overtime."

The two ladies shared a laugh before Evelyn headed to the back door, seeing the shattered coffee mug. Considering the amount of anger Darcie unleashed when she gave her a speeding fine, she knew that the intruder got off mildly. Out the back, she looked for the security wiring, which had been cut. Whoever this intruder was, he knew what he was doing.
