“You...want to come with me?” Jon watched his aunt dubiously. “You do realise I’m travelling well out of my father’s protection to do this task, it’s not a pleasure voyage.”

Dany sat up and looked at him intensely. “That’s exactly why I want to leave!” Her expression morphed into a frown, “I listened in to mothers conversations with her advisors...Rhaegar means to betroth me to Quentyn Martell!”

“Quentyn Martell is a decent man,” Jon assured. “He’s a bit on the quiet side, but he’s harmless. He’d treat you well Dany.”

Her purple eyes narrowed. “ I don’t care! I don’t want to be betrothed to anyone, I want to choose my own husband like Aegon the Unlikely did with his love!”

Jon shook his head. “We all have our duty to the family,” he sighed, “It may not always be pleasant, but it’s necessary.”

“Please Jon,” Dany allowed the furs to fall away, revealing her naked body and giving Jon a fresh reminder that he had lain with his aunt. He had already defied his father in a way. “I want to see the world, get a taste of things before I’m **** into this new life...”

The Prince considered it, turned the idea around in his head, and then exhaled. “If you come with me,” he said carefully, “then you must stick by my side as we travel. It won’t be safe for nobles to just move about in Essos, especially with enemies seeking to destroy us. You would have to do exactly as I or the Kingsguard said...and when I return, you will do your duty.”

Dany shrieked in happiness and threw her arms around Jon in a gripping hug. “Oh thank you! You won’t regret this, I promise!”

The Princess hurried to her feet and began to dress, speaking all at once how she will prepare herself for the journey and mentioning the list of things she hoped to see. Jon watched her for a moment and then fell back into his bed, already beginning to regret his decision.
