Where is the Doctor going? And does Martha follow him?

The Doctor goes in search of something and Martha follows

"What are you looking for, Doctor?" Martha said as she ran after the Doctor.

"I keep picking up trace elements of some alien artifact," said the Doctor. "However the artifact itself does not seem to be around here anymore."

"What does this artifact look like?" said Martha.

"It's difficult to say," said the Doctor. "My sonic screwdriver keeps giving all sorts of readings. As if the artifact itself has changed its size and shape several times over the centuries."

"Centuries?"

"Yes," said the Doctor. "About roughly two thousand years by Earth standards, it seems."

"But that would mean it's been here since Roman times," said Martha Jones. "That would be impossible."

"Would it be?" asked the Doctor. "I wonder. Well, whatever it was, it's not here now. I suspect the good folks at Torchwood probably picked it up or perhaps it was UNIT. I never can tell which of them is charge of what nowadays."

"Well, what does this artifact do?" asked Martha.

"Difficult to say," said the Doctor. "It's supposed to have been used in a primitive form of terraforming but without really seeing the artifact itself, it's hard to say... Oh, wait! This is interesting."

"What is it?" asked Martha.

"My sonic screwdriver is picking up some form of alien radiation emanating from that building over there. Something not native to this planet seems to have landed near there or perhaps it was transported there. Let's go see."

"But, Doctor..." Martha started to say.

But it was too late. He had already run off again and Martha had **** but to follow him to the building in question. A building that she realized to her horror was the local church.

Surely he does not expect me to go in there in my condition, Martha thought. I'm naked.

But even as she thought this, the doctor was going inside and Martha felt that she had **** but to follow. She muttered a quick prayer and did her best to cover herself with her inadequate hands as she ran inside after him.
