Mugshot

Evelyn walked into the briefing room slightly late.

"Ah, Deputy Brown's finally here." Barnes said.

"Sorry sir." Evelyn hurried to her seat.

"Well, now that everyone's here, I want to introduce you all to Eric Wynn. In the last two days, Eric skipped on his bail, and is now on the run. There's a possibility he's in the area, and he might be a suspect in the break-in yesterday. Eric has been convicted of **** dealing before, and his most recent charges include possession and **** with a deadly weapon."

Evelyn looked to the mugshot of the bald man, noting his pale skin, gaunt face, and goatee. She did her best to burn the image into her mind as Barnes continued to talk. On the streets, Evelyn kept her head on a swivel. She knew that guys like Eric could be extremely dangerous. His arrest record spoke of a propensity for **** and **** use, that made him as unpredictable as he was dangerous. Despite that, she knew the key was to keep a cool head and remained focused.

Spencer looked to the mugshot of Eric Wynn on the TV news, the face that he was sure had Evelyn so frustrated yesterday. He grew nervous for her when the news reporter spoke of his arrest record. His heart sank as his mind filled with fears. Life had already been cruel enough to take away one woman he loved with all his heart, and he knew the same could happen again.

When his phone vibrated in his pocket, Spencer took a deep breath before pulled it out, hoping he wasn't repeating history. He sighed with relief when he saw a text from Evelyn: 'coffee?'

'sure'

As Spencer rushed to the table, Evelyn sensed his nervousness. She knew the feeling all too well when it came to Clay, but she knew it had hit Spencer hard. No matter what happens, she knew the ghost of his former wife and the accident would always loom over him.

"Hey Evelyn." He **** a smile as he sat down.

"Hey."

"Have a good day?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Pretty good." Spencer nodded his head with a dismissive haste that Evelyn picked up on right away.

"Get up to much?"

"No, not really." Spencer let out a nervous laugh. "You fall into any minefields?"

"Nope, I had an easy day today too for once."

"Good to hear."

"Well, I've got some other good news for my masseuse."

"Yeah?"

"Clay has the kids tomorrow."

"Ohh, I see."

"Reckon you could give me a full service?" Evelyn gave Spencer a wink.

"Well I aim to please."

"Awesome. I could really use it."

"They working you hard?"

"Hmm, not really. It's just been a while."

After finishing their coffees, the two exited, where the two kissed. Spencer then gave Evelyn a tight hug and whispered in her ear "You be safe out there."

Evelyn looked into Specner's nervous face, and said "Don't worry about me Spence. See you soon."

"See you."
