Entering into the elevator you press the top floor button causing the door to slowly close. Since Selina hotwired the elevator all its normal functions are now operating, including that dreadful ancient music that plagues many elevators. It becomes a bit surreal as “Arthur's Theme” by Christopher Cross begins to play through a tinny speaker as you stand silently next to your former date who is wearing a leather combat catsuit with a bull whip.

You both awkwardly look around as the elevator slowly creeps upward.

“So you're a thief?” You try to make small talk to break the silence.

“Yes.” Selina answers. “Though I do work as an insurance appraiser, it helps explain things with the IRS.”

“1040 or W2?”

“1040, but the 8283's are a bear.”

A few more seconds drag by as the elevator seems to be taking forever.

“Do you belong to a guild or something?” You try again.

“What do you mean?” She asks.

“You know a thieves guild?” You're curious. “A secret society of thieves.”

“A thieves guild? Pfft!” Kyle chuckles. “Really? Let me guess, you play World of Dragon Dungeons or something?”

“It's Warcraft.” You mutter. “World of Warcraft is an MMORPG, Dungeons and Dragons is tabletop role-playing game.

“Dork.” Selina snorts. “And you still play, I bet.”

“I haven't played D&D since my undergrads days.” You defend yourself.

“And Worldcraft?” Selina rolls her eyes up at you, enjoying herself far too much.

“The guys in Coronary Care Unit needed a healer for their 25 man.” You mumble and concede the point.

“Wait, you play a doctor in your fantasy world?!” She laughs loudly at you. “Not some handsome knight in shining armor saving fair damsels, or even a ripped savage barbarian in a loincloth ravaging buxom women, but a doctor who just heals other geeks?! Hahaha!! Damn doc, even your online fantasy life needs some excitement.”

“First, it's Warcraft.” You lecture. “Second, I'm not a doctor, but a 120th level Blood Elf Disc Priest with top tier purples. Finally, you have nothing to complain about, remember it was you that stole this blind date. I am suppose to be at the theatre right now.”

Selina leans in so her shoulder touches your upper arm, “So that means we are still on a date?”

“I don't date cosplayers.” You cross your arms and move away from her touch. “You live action role players are just too weird.”

“Cosplayer!” Selina puts her hands on her hips.

“Have you looked in a mirror lately?” You gaze at her over your shoulder.

“This is a Lycra, Kevlar, Gore-Tex weave combat mission suit with memory foam base padding.” She protests, “the CIA doesn't even use stuff as good as this!”

“And the cat ears and goggles?” You gleam.

Selina fumes as she is brought to silence.

“It's nice to finally win one.” You say out loud and grin.

“You forgot about the cat claws.” Selina opens her right hand with a flick of her wrist and five ultra sharp nails extend from her fingertips.

“Now, this feels like a date.” You're not intimated at all. “At least with you.”

“And is that a bad thing?” She hesitates.

“Not at all, most exciting birthday of my life,” you warmly say. “And a friend told me I need a little excitement in my life.”

Selina smiles, retracting her claws as the elevator door opens.
