"Happy birthday Alex!" says my mom with a smile.
"Here's a gift, it's not much, but I hope you like it."
"Thanks, mom." I said.
I open the gift, and it's a pair of grey socks. It's not much, but I'm glad she came to my birthday, at least someone did. I turned 39 today; my life is a mess. My boss fired me a few months back, and the girl I love since high school is going to marry in two days... Yes, life sucks.
"It's time for me to leave." says my mom with a warm smile.
"You should get some rest, honey."
My mom left after she said that.
