Partner with Josh

He decides it really would be best for everyone if she partners with Josh. He's wicked smart, so it'll help her out. He'll get a much-needed self-esteem boost out of it. He's a little hesitant because deep down he'd love to be her partner, but Minh's counting on him. Kyle scribbles out the note and waits for Mr. McDonald to turn toward the board. Awkwardly, having never passed a note in class before, Kyle makes like he's yawning and stretches his arm way over Tanya's desk and drops the note. Tanya quietly opens the note and reads it while keeping one eye focused on Mr. McDonald.

"Dear Tanya,

I think you want to ask me to be your lab partner. Thank you. I'm sorry but I've already promised Minh. However, you should ask Josh. He'll be an awesome partner and probably honored that you asked him. When you ask it should be sincere. In fact, let's forget this was my suggestion at all, you've always wanted to be Josh's lab partner and he's the only person you've ever considered! lol :) If he believes that it'll help him get over his shyness. You can be a little intimidating because you're so cool! I hope this is okay and doesn't make you sad. You're my second choice after Minh.

Tanya reads the note and absorbs the words. As soon as she reads it, she immediately forgets the part where she should ask Josh to be her lab partner. In fact, she's a little confused as to how he'd get the idea that she planned on asking to be lab partners. There was no need for Kyle to apologize. Tanya, as long as she could remember, had always meant to ask Josh to be her lab partner. She was pretty sure Josh was the only person she's ever considered.

Toward the end of class, Mr. McDonald announces it's time to choose lab partners, "for those of you who haven't made a decision yet please take this time to pair up."

Tanya looks across the room and sees Chad smiling at her. He raises his eyebrows and nods. She flattered that he seems to want her to be his partner but she knows Josh is the right choice, so she turns around to the geeky student sitting behind her. Josh is looking around the room and sighing. No doubt, he assumes no one's going to ask him and he'll get stuck with someone like Elaine Blodgett. No one liked Elaine.

"Hey Josh," Tanya says startling the shy student out of his cloud of doubt. "I'd be totally thrilled if you'd partner up with me this year?"

Josh's jaw drops. He was already shocked by Tanya sitting at his table during lunch. He was sure she was more interested in Kyle and even that he assumed was some sort of trick to be mean. She can't be serious, can she?

"R-really?" he asks.

"Totes! I can't imagine being partners with anyone else!"

That struck Josh as being a little suspicious. He looks across the room at her usual partner, McKenzie, and it looks like she's partnering up with Chad instead.
