After a brief pause, Reed clears his throat and pushes aside his nervous feelings enough to get the words out.

"Sue, there seems to be a problem with the machine" he explained ever so carefully "the scanner needs to have a direct line to your body in order for us to figure out what's happening to you".

Sue didn't understand the circumstances straight away and only replied "so, what, do I need to move closer to the machine for it to work".

Reed let out a nervous chuckle to calm himself and cautiously explained himself "unfortunately no, for the machine to work you'll have to remove the only thing between the scanner and your body". He said that last part slowly hoping that she'll understand what he's saying without him having to say the words and making the situation more awkward than it has to be.

Luckily, Sue finally catches on and looks up at Reed with horror "wait you want me to take off my clothes? Right here in the lab?" she asks with a frightened tone.

"I know that it's not ideal, but if we're going to have any chance of figuring this out, you're gonna have to."

Sue was speechless. Reed Richards was one of the most respected scientists on the planet and her closest friend and now she was going to have to strip naked in front of him. Could she really do it?
