Franz Karl's War

The Summarized Version of It

The armies of Sudreich, Nordreich, Asturias, Frankia and the Almain and the Italian states of Confederation readied themselves. Asturias and Sudreich declared war, an unjustified and unprovoked war that had gotten Lisbon and Nederbel a little nervous. The armies of Asturias and Frankia focused on dealing with Aragon while Nordreich, Sudreich, the Almain and Italian states together with some additional men from Sudreich-controlled Holy States fought against Naples.

As per Franz Karl's orders, before battle the opposing forces must be given the chance to surrender peacefully. To do so would mean mercy and anyone taken prisoner will be guaranteed just treatment as a prisoner of war. Some armies surrendered, some didn't. Those that didn't put up a good fight. Aragon did not lack for capable generals.

In the end, the war is won. The King of Aragon and his older sons and heirs died valiant defending their homeland. They and their men were given the proper burial rites. They deserved at least that. The late King's widow and unmarried daughters were spared. Franz Karl and Emmanuel expressly made that clear. After all, the Queen of Aragon is Franz Karl's cousin and her unmarried daughters were founded suitable marriages.

With the war won, Asturias is bigger. Naples, the Italian states of the Confederation, Venicia and the Holy States are unified by Franz Karl as newly formed Kingdom of Italia with Franz Karl's second son who is married to a Venician noble woman was made its first King. The new Holy Father, Franz Karl's cousin, blessed the new Kingdom, adding to its legitimacy.

Celebrations were held but nothing to extravagant and costly.
