Breakfast is uneventful, as are most of the classes. You learn a bit, but see very little of Doe or the prefects. It seems that the rest of the students shy away from you because you are the Head Boy. Lunch comes and passes, and then dinner. Before you know it, you are back up in your hallway.
Linda and Ashley are playing cards in the lounge. You say hello, and they look up and greet you.
"Where are the others?" you ask.
"Carol and Heather are in the dorm, and Doe is in your room."
"Thanks."
You head over to your room. Doe is reading a book. She looks up and smiles at you, sort of shyly. You smile back and ask her how her day was.
"Great, how was yours?"
"I didn't do much."
You stand there for a few seconds. Neither of you say anything. Then Doe speaks up...
