You decide it is too risky to try to ask any questions of Sarah or to try to get back to your room. Mr. and Mrs. Ivers seem eager to begin the drive back to their home, so as soon as the girls have finished packing the rest of their things, you obediently follow along as Mr. Ivers leads you to his car.

“I’m afraid it’s going to be a bit of a tight squeeze,” says Mrs. Ivers. I told Fred that we should have rented a van. Connor, you sit up front with Fred, and we girls will squeeze in together here in the back seat.”

You appreciate her offer to give you a little more leg room, but your upbringing tells you that you really should let her take the front seat, instead.
