Don't attend the parley

Although you are flattered that Renly thought to include you at the negotiations, you feel as though you would be quite out of place. In fact, your presence may actual be somewhat detrimental to Renly's image, as it may lead Stannis to incorrectly assume that you represent most of his young brother's soldiers. You explain this to Renly, and thankfully, the king understands your decision.

Before noon, King Renly and Lady Catelyn head out to the parley, taking several of their guards and vassals with them. Lady Brienne is one of those who accompany them. You have no one but Aerion to keep you company for the duration of the parley. Normally, you would not mind that. However, after having these courteous highborn hosts for the last two weeks, you strangely find yourself a little hollow.

Luckily, the feeling does not last long. Renly, Catelyn, and their retainers return after less than an hour. Apparently, the parley did not go well. No blows were exchanged; only words. But no one was left satisfied by the end of it. Despite everyone's best efforts, they were unable to reach a compromise.

Evidently, it would come to battle after all. Renly tells you "Stannis has left us ****. Tomorrow... I must fight him."

You notice he sounds sorrowful. That is actually a little reassuring. As vain and haughty as Renly may be, he still appreciates the value of family.

Later that night, Renly summons you and Lady Catelyn to his tent. When you two get there, Lady Brienne is helping him into his armor

Renly tells you his plans for tomorrow. He will have you, Lady Catelyn, and her men abstain from fighting, but he wants all you to observe the battle. He claims the purpose is so that you all can witness what he is capable of, as well as what he does to those who oppose him. You hope that is not a threat. Given how relations between Renly and Catelyn have been improving for the last fortnight, it probably is not. Still, a serious king does not make idle threats.

Just when Brienne finishes dressing Renly in his armor, you abruptly feel quite cold. Lady Catelyn appears to feel the same, and the light seems to dim slightly.

Right then, something enters the tent. You have no idea what it is, but it is black and gaseous. You suddenly feel as though you are in the presence of danger. However, the black entity does not come toward you. It is moving towards Renly!
