The Last Bond Between Lisandra and your Father

With an escort of twelve well-armed and well-armored guards, you follow Lisandra to the inn she and her daughter are staying while they are here in the capital again. Lisandra had told you that what she had to say was better off being told where they currently stayed at. You wanted to give the woman a chance but you are not stupid and careless enough to go with her alone and unguarded.

You reach the inn and the guards wait outside the room Lisandra and Holda are using. Inside is an elderly woman. The woman bows to you and introduces herself as Lisandra's mother and Holda's grandmother. She excuses herself and leaves the room.

"Sire, I am sure you are aware that the sole condition placed upon me and your father by your mother is that he and I never have children. Well," she walks over to what you now see as a crib, "your father decided he wasn't going to abide by that anymore." She reaches down and brings up a bundle. It is a baby you guess is a couple of months old. "Months prior to his sudden ****, I broached him on the subject of us having a child. I wanted so much to bear him a child, to bear a fruit of our love and he loved me enough to answer my wish. I would have told him but then your brother died and he followed soon after. After his funeral, I had to leave less your mother finds out and kills me and my then unborn child."

"And you decide to tell me this now, why?"

"Because if what I and your father did is wrong, this child is innocent of that. Sire, this child is your half-sibling. You share half the blood following through your veins. Whatever you or your mother may wish to do with me, this child does not deserve it." Lisandra hands her baby to her older child. "My King, please. I beg of you." She gets on her hands and knees. "Spare my younger child your wrath. Take my life if you want your pound of flesh."

"Lisandra," you says cold and stern, "had my father not died and he was still King, no doubt my mother would have found a way to have you killed and make it look like a complete accident."

Holda gulps, her arms shaking, afraid of what might be done to her mother and her younger sibling.

"Tell me, is this child a boy or girl?"

Holda nervously answers, "It is a girl, my King. Please, she is no threat to your throne and she never will be."

"Lisandra, you and your younger daughter will be spared. But you will spend the rest of your life being watched over in my palace. For the love my father had for you, I will see you taken care of. You and his last child. Now get up."

Lisandra gets to her feet with tears in her eyes, "Oh thank you, young King."

With that out of the way, you take a look your bastard baby sister whom you find out is named Halifrid. She looks like you, having inherited your father's blond hair and blue eyes. The baby's wondering eyes look at you before moving around again. You smile a little and think to yourself just how ridiculous it was for Lisandra to think he would kill this child. Granted his mother would have definitely had her murdered but not the child.

Lisandra smiles at how well you are getting along with her baby.
