You thought of all the different persons you can become as in the universe/show. You could become Luffy or one of his original crew members or one of the other pirates. Or you could be one of the Marines of the World Government...

In the end you decided to go as yourself for you can likely change things by a fair amount if not throw it off the main story line if you chose to. You decided to do a coin flip on you getting a Devil fruit power or not. Heads for yes Tails for no, beside you may get one along the line...
