Chapter 19 by hambo hambo

Does anything happen on the way up?

Yes

It takes a little bit of work, but eventually she climbs up the tree, stopping at a branch that looks sturdy enough to support her (modest) weight.

"These clothes are so much more flexible than the last pair," she says, not realizing the fairies' trickery from last night. "I have to compliment my tailor the next time I see him."

Hilda's now a few feet away from the sword. It's caught on a couple of smaller branches and barely hanging on.

The limbs near it are too small and frail to support her. She tries shaking loose, but the sword doesn't budge.

Hilda tries leaning over as far as she can to try to bat it loose. After a few tries, it's eventually knocked clear of the tree.

In her excitement (or perhaps fatigue from not getting a proper night's rest) Hilda fails to hear the sound of ripping fabric as she moves back along the tree and climbs down.

When she gets back on the ground she picks up the sword and walks away, completely unaware of the clothing she's just left behind.

Where to now?
