Miss Long Goes to Principal Keith's Office

Miss Long knew that she could always show up to a science department meeting late, it wasn't that big of a deal anyway. Most of the time they just sat around and bitched about the students or talked about the ridiculous new changes the central office created without having a clue of what actually was going on in the classroom. She knew it was never good to piss off a boss and Miss Long technically worked for Principal Keith, not the department head Mrs. Mills. Besides Miss Long knew she needed to discuss the new class she was supposed to teach. Sex Education was a big shift from her current science curriculum.

After taking a minute or two to check her make up and her hair Miss Long headed on to the main office. As it was third period most students were in their respective classes but she saw a few stragglers who scurried on into class late.

As she reached the main office Miss Long was greeted by Mrs. Fowler, an older black woman with thick glasses.

"Hey Amber." the secretary said, having been on a first name basis after a few years.

"Hey girl." Miss Long said smiling. "Is Keith in his office? He said he wanted to see me." she said, dropping all formality.

"Oh yes darling he should be in there. Been in there for a while actually." The old woman smiled as she nodded her head toward Principal Keith's office.

With a word of thanks Miss Long headed down toward Principal Keith's office. The door was closed, which normally meant he was busy. But Mrs. Fowler said he was in.
