Miss Long's Planning Period

As second period ended and the final students filtered out the door Miss Long breathed a sigh of relief. Finally it was her planning period. She had time to relax and get things done. With this new curriculum though she knew she would have to work extra hard. A new "prep" meant lots of work. She had been teaching the same subject for so long that her cabinets of materials were as simple as rinse and repeat.

Miss Long moved her to chair and took a seat behind her desk. She needed to check her emails since she had been busy all morning.

She saw two unread emails and read them. The first was from Principal Keith.

"Come by my office during your planning period." short and to the point Principal Keith's email could not go unheeded. However, she noticed she had another email from Mrs. Mills titled "Monthly Science Department Meeting Today."

Damn it. Miss Long thought as she read the title. She didn't want to waste her time in a meeting with anyone. She had to get her new class ready. However, she did like the company of the fellow teachers and she knew she would have to talk to them about her new course. Miss Long was perturbed though because she knew she needed to go to the department meeting, but she also needed to see Principal Keith. Hopefully she could do both if time allowed.
