With an enormous headache

The morning sun hits your face. You wake up with a groan. Your head feels like a bongo drum in a chimpanzee cage.

You head to the computer room and find Katy doing whatever magic she does.

“So any luck tracking the other missing people?”

“Yes. Cynthia Volgol, age forty five. I found her address.”

“You’re awesome.”

She smiles. “Thanks.”

You head into the common room. Toby and Leo are there, along with Tina. Emma must still be asleep.

“Katy found another person missing from the house. Cynthia Volgol. We have an address. Tina, Leo, want to check it out with me?”

They both nod and get up. You notice Tina looks tired. You need to keep a closer eye on her. She hasn’t been the same since she was rescued.

Katy walks in. “Her house is on twenty three Maple Hill Lane. Take the usual weapons until we know what we’re dealing with.”

You load up with guns, stakes, and holy water and hit the road.

After a quiet hour in the car you pull up to a little ranch on the outskirts of the city. The grass is uncut and almost a foot tall. The three of you exit the car and walk carefully to the front door.

You look at the others. “No traps yet, and it looks abandoned. Looks can be deceiving, let’s be careful.”

You go to kick the door in, but try the handle first. It is unlocked and swings open with a squeak. The three of you walk in. The place stinks. It is likely rotting food in the garbage.

You point to the others. “I don’t think anyone has been here for a while. Let’s see if we can find anything.”

You separate and search the place. The only thing you turn up is a picture of the owner on the mantle. She is a frumpy, pudgy, unattractive redhead. You wonder if she still looks like that. You pocket the picture.

The three of you take off and head back to base. You arrive back at six.

“You guys want to catch a drink at Bar? It’s happy hour.”

Tina gives a furtive smile. “Love to.”

Leo frowns. “I have plans with Emma.”

You drop off Leo.

“So Tina, I guess it’s just us.”

“It definitely is...Jacky.”

You black out.
