Waking With A Bang

Just an hour past sunrise, Kenny, and Zoey remained silently asleep in their cave beside the dying embers of their once roaring fire. After their second time together, the pair didn't move much at all, Zoey was still laying on top of Kenny, her body snuggled against his, helping keep them both warm. Kenny's arms were wrapped around the redhead, his chin resting on the tip of her head while his right hand remained laced through her hair the whole night. Nothing was seeming able to stir the sleeping teens until suddenly the felt a tremor. Zoey let out a small whine and nuzzled her face into Kenny's chest while Kenny lifted his hand and slowly rubbed his eyes.

Then only moments later the hear the echo of a large bang, the whole cave shook for a moment causing dirt and dust to fall from the ceiling, covering the pair, "Whoa!" Kenny exclaimed as he jolted up, Zoey rolling away wiping her body from the dust, "What the hell was that?"

"I don't know!" Zoey exclaimed while looking around, before nervously moving back to Kenny's side, "D-Do you think...can earthquakes happen on mountains?" The redhead squeaked out,

"I have no idea," Kenny gulped as he reached over, snatching up both his and Zoey's boots, "But if this whole place just shook, I don't want it collapsing on top of us," He stated causing Zoey to rapidly nod in agreement, "It's light out, let's see if we can find my trail and get the hell back to the lodge,"

"Good idea," Zoey grunted as she **** her boots on. However the second Zoey got to her feet Kenny heard her let out a small whimper, "O-Ow..." The redhead softly winced,

Kenny sprung to his feet, moving to Zoey's side, "Shit, you okay? What's wrong?" He asked with a set of wide eyes, looking the girl over, trying to see if a chunk of rock fell and struck her,

"I-I'm fine," Zoey assured him with a sheepish smile, "I just...um, I'm a little sore, that's all,"

Kenny's face turned perplexed for a moment before his eyes went wide and his cheeks blushed, "O-Oh...I'm, uh, I'm sorry about that," He nervously chuckled, "I didn't realize I was being rough,"

Zoey shook her head and grinned, "No, no, you weren't rough with me, everything was nice I think I'm just...stretched, you know?" Kenny lowered his head, letting out a breathy laugh, no longer able to look the girl in the eye, "What? I imagine that's pretty normal with...what you're using," Kenny couldn't stop himself from blushing like a child, this only made Zoey giggle, "Shouldn't you be proud or something? Don't guys like hearing that kind of stuff?" The redhead teased,

"I don't know, first time I've ever heard something like that," Kenny replied with a shrug, "But, um, you're good? Not upset or anything?"

"No regrets," Zoey easily replied, "I think all I'll need is a warm bath,"

"G-Good, I'm glad I didn't-that's good," Kenny stumbled back with before stepping away from Zoey and picking up their coats that they used as a bed, "Here, let's get you back to that bath,"

"Hang on," Zoey urged while reaching out and catching Kenny's hand, "Are you okay with what happened?" Kenny merely stared back at the girl, blinking a few quick times in silence, "I know you told me you were just trying to think about things yesterday, and I kinda distracted you." Zoey said with a short smile, "I didn't...I hope I didn't make things tougher for you or made you regret what we-"

"I don't regret a thing," Kenny interjected, "I still need to think about things but...no, Zoey, everything we did was perfect and, I don't know, amazing,"

"Really?" Zoey replied with a sigh of relief, "Thank god, I just didn't want some awkward haze hanging over us or whatever," The redhead giggled, "Because I really liked it too, and it felt right to do it after everything people have been putting us through,"

"Yeah," Kenny agreed with a slight drop in his voice, "I just feel that whatever I do though, I'm going to let someone down,"

Zoey let out a small understanding nod and stepped towards Kenny, "Well, take your time, think it through all the way and as for you and I...know if it ends here, I'll be okay," She added on with a warm smile, "You still made my first time special and memorable," Kenny and Zoey held a long gaze for nearly a minute, both getting caught up for a moment, though Zoey broke free first. With a nervous laugh she stepped past Kenny, "Um...shall we?"

"Right!" Kenny nearly exclaimed while pulling his coat on, "Follow me, I think I know where I tied off my last flag, we find that, and we'll be back at the lodge in no time,"

"Great," Zoey chirped back as she put her coat on as well and followed Kenny out of the cave into the snow-covered woods.
