She makes an offer

Despite the warning from Diana Naylor about her, your ingrained courtesy kicks in and you shake the young woman's hand and wish her good evening.

"I was at the bistro up the street, and I was planning to talk to the students until you showed up. I figured you had to be the intriguing new Dean of Students on his vintage motorcycle and I couldn't resist the opportunity to meet you." Despite her disarming smile you can see a bright probing intelligence in her eyes that makes you wary.

"Headmistress Naylor has asked that you direct any questions to her," you say.

"Of course she did. And she responds with platitudes and prepared statements that attorney's vetted for her. Classic stonewall techniques. But surely she wouldn't object to you having a drink with a pretty young woman, Mr. Hawkfeather? After all, you are allowed a social life aren't you? I just saw you having drinks with five pretty young girls, surely you can make time for one more?"

"Is that what this is?" you say with a short laugh. "A date?"

"Think of it as a reconnaissance mission. For both of us. I'm guessing there are things you don't know about your new employer, and I know you could shed light on a few things. Now you can get up and walk out of here, and miss out on a cold beer, or you can listen to me for a few minutes before you do anything. You don't have anything to lose. And maybe what you learn can help you out." She gives you a direct look and a smile. "What do you say Marine?"
