You are given two weeks to “test the waters”

When your father demands your full attention, your body moves on instinct into a respectful, disciplined postured. The reflex comes as easily as blinking, and in less than a second your sole focus is on your master’s next words.

“It would seem that your infiltration mission bore unexpected fruit,” he begins.

He moves toward your computer, where the file of Raven and Starfire’s passionate embrace has long since finished playing. He gives the monitor a brief look before closing down your computer and disconnects your phone from it.

“You’ve succeeded rather well in earning a small but noticeable level of trust and influence with the Titans. No small accomplishment.”

“I was unaware that I had made such a positive impression on a large number of them.”

“Still, to have gained the trust of even a single Titan this early was beyond anything either of us expected. This grants us new options and opportunities. However…”

“You suspect that the Titans are somehow aware of my status? Or at least that I am not an ordinary civilian?”

“Perhaps…And perhaps not. It would be foolish to not assume that this is a potential trap. But the same can be said for the belief that it is certainly a trap. One way or another, this is an opportunity.”

“What would you have me do, master?”

Slade stared behind you. Beyond you. His thoughts are his alone, and you are unable to determine where they start or how they move. In less than a minute, his full attention has returned to the hear and now.

“14 days. Assuming that this is not a trap or ambush by the Titans, you are to determine whether or not the benefits to first-hand access to any intelligence behind enemy lines outweighs the growing odds of being discovered as an enemy.”

“What should I be looking for?”

“I doubt they’ll be as obvious as leaving a single, critical piece of information that could destroy them within your reach, no matter how much trust you’ve earned among their ranks. Anything you can learn about them there only improves out odds of success when we make our move against them. I trust your judgement will suffice in determining whether or not the intelligence you collect under them warrants the risk of being discovered growing exponentially the longer you remain.”

Slade tosses the phone in his hand towards you. Before you even catch it, he has already made his way out of your chambers. He has made his decision.
