Chapter 9 by McPokerface
By What?
Marty. And he's in trouble.
Marty was Emil's best friend. His only friend, actually. Or well, not anymore.
He was a rather nerdy kid. Short, lanky, of pale skin and tired eyes. He always seemed to be underslept, despite the fact that he was often so energetic and overly-excitable. Messy brown curls on his head, and rather large brown eyes were his main features, aside from his never closed mouth. In many ways, he was the exact opposite to Emil. A loud guy, often expressing his views on any given subject, what he liked to watch or was watching, what he liked to do or was doing, all that kinda stuff.
He was also weird. He liked stuff that was more on the offside. An aficionado of gore-house and old school horror, as well as a frequent listener of psych rock and strange techno.
But that wasn't the reason why he was being thrown against the ground by Barry Bell, the school's famed two-year held back and residential big guy. No, that reason was very much due to his mouth and his apparent inability to shut up.
"Fuck you say about me, Mart?!"
The guy's voice was always overwhelming. He always found a way to make his presence be known, a deep bass that shut the entire room up. Emil could see the cafeteria workers stop alongside their students, idly serving the smartest of the bunch, who kept moving despite the sudden still in time and space.
"Exactly what you just fucking heard, you spineless size-abusing shit! Everyone's sick and tired of dealing with your dumb-ass from day to day! It's not the fucking 80's man, fuck off and do something with your life already!"
The blow was deafening, a strike to the cheek that sent the lanky body of Marty crashing against a table of screaming girls. Emil ground his teeth, muttering under his breath.
"For fuck's sakes, man..."
This wasn't the first time Marty had gotten into one of these altercations. Last time he'd had a screaming match with Lindsay Metz over how much of an uptight bimbo she was, and it'd ended with further shaming from every single person in class as well as a good reprimand from teaches who were angrier at the fact that they had to sort it out, rather than the actual issue in front of them. It was always like this with Mar, the guy seemingly uncaring to any who might ever be offended at his opinion, a guy who said it like it was every time.
Emil found it endearing, but most of the school found it either way too annoying, or too much to handle.
As such, he was alone, just like Emil was.
And he was getting beaten up right now, and no one was standing up. No one.
No one...?
