Josh smiled at Kelly, even as she admitted how little value she assigned to herself.

"You're not the one who gets to decide how valuable you are. I like you. I want you. It's as simple as that." He said softly. He didn't bother saying she was actually pretty or the like. It was true. She really did underestimate her value as a status symbol. But, this was a more persuasive line.

Kelly nodded tearfully, and burrowed deeper into his arms. This was a world where you didn't question that kind of sentiment.

Sara looked up at him from the floor expectantly. She was just a spectator here, but she too was eagerly awaiting the special moment.

Josh took a deep breath.

"Kelly, I want to ask you on a date." He insisted. "This weekend, let's go up to the observatory. Get lunch together. If you want, we can even come back to my place after. How does that sound?"

Through the tears, Kelly formed a smile.

"It sounds incredible." She whispered.

Josh leaned down close to her ear and continued .

"...And if it goes well enough, maybe even take a stroll down to the collar shop the next morning..."

Kelly nuzzles her cheek into his hand eagerly. The courtship was just starting in earnest, but there was no longer a question as to the result. Kelly belonged to him.
