Chapter 20

To catch a thief?
And seek reparations
You smirk as you turn round and proceed with tracking the pair through the kingdom's bustling market district. You already knew where they were going; Tukson's Book Trade to **** the owner. The challenge you were presented with was how to split them up. You step aside into an alley to think for a moment, wondering how you would proceed next when the idea hits you. Reaching out with your subconscious, you enter Tukson's mind and plant one powerful suggestion; leave. His realization is immediate and you watch as he drops the box of stock he had been carrying and scrambles upstairs for his bug out bag; a large duffel bag stuffed with clothes, weapons, and supplies for a long trip on foot. At that same moment, you notice that Emerald and Mercury had arrived at the front door, a door which had been unlocked. You feel Tukson freeze at the sound of the door chime.
You step in once more and follow with a second one-word command; window. He hesitates for only a moment but readily complies, lifting open the back window and slipping outside into a side street between two apartment buildings. As this happens, you notice Emerald and Mercury grow suspicious as they move to search the shop and upstairs apartment.
"Damn it, we missed him," you hear Mercury swear.
"He couldn't have gotten far," replied Emerald. "Let's split up. It's just one Faunus and he isn't even a fighter."
The pair rush out the back door, eager to catch Tukson before the man had a chance to disappear entirely. As they go their separate ways, you start walking on an intercept path with Emerald. You can feel your cock twitch in anticipation. It doesn't take long until you turn around another corner and come face to face with the jadette thief. She freezes in place as your eyes lock, a smile on your face as you shake your head with disappointment. Realizing she's been caught, she turns and bolts to put as much distance between the two of you as possible.
You decide not to pursue her, content for now to just sit back and watch her run to her false state of security. She ducks into another alleyway and pauses to both catch her breath and to see if you had followed her. You wait until she finally relaxes, then quietly teleport behind her.
"Boo," you say into her ear, making her jump in alarm.
She immediately puts distance between the two of you and draws her weapons, a pair of kusarigama-revolvers, from her belt. She lines up their sights with your face.
"Move and I blow your brains out," she threatens with an angry sneer.
"My my, so violent," you chide. "Is that really such a way to greet the man you've pick-pocketed?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. Now leave before I make you."
"You might want to think twice before opening fire like that. Didn't Cinder tell you to stay out of trouble?"
She freezes in disbelief at your mentioning of her mentor's name. You can feel a retort on the tip of her tongue and yet she holds it in check, her mind racing with what-ifs. You were a complete unknown to her. She couldn't tell if you were an enemy or an ally, if you were an acquaintance of Cinder's or a bounty hunter sent to collect. She couldn't help but wonder that if you were the latter, then why hadn't you attacked her yet? You smile at her internal conflicts and continue.
"Your shock is understandable. Cinder is the type to work from the shadows, to pull strings from behind puppets and proxies. I'll admit her schemes to bring about the Fall of Vale and divide the Four Kingdoms is rather ingenious, but her end goal? Not so much, and she's dragging you along with her."
"What the hell do you want then?" she asked with trepidation.
So you're suspicions were correct; she sees you as a threat. Why wouldn't she since you just paraphrased her master's plans over the span of ten seconds? You begin to step forward and her hands begin shaking.
"I told you! Not another step closer!"
"Go ahead. Shoot. Nothing will happen."
You disable the firing mechanism in each weapon as you say this, which proves fortunate as she pulls the triggers; click. Confusion spreads across her face as she stares at her now useless firearms. This only lasts a moment however, and she quickly shifts to their scythe forms.
"If I can't shoot you then I'll just have to slice your guts out," she growls as she lunges.
Like with Yang, you made quick work of your opponent, your katars extending from their gauntlet-mounted compartments. The exchange is brief with only a few parries traded between the two of you. In short order, Emerald was soon disarmed by your superior skill and was left at your mercy as you slammed her against the wall, pinning her hands above her head. Her earlier confidence and anger is soon replaced with terror as you regard her thoughtfully.
"What are you going to do to me...?" she asks shakily.
She could hardly move in your iron grip, and without her mobility it wouldn't matter at this point if she used her Semblance on you to put false images into your head. She knew this with certainty.
"I'm not entirely sure actually," you admit. "I originally meant to just smack you around a few times to teach you a lesson then take back my wallet and be on my merry way, but then I gave it some more thought. A woman as talented and gorgeous as yourself can amount to so much more... if persuaded properly."
Her anger returns full ****.
"Don't try to sweet talk me. You don't know a damn thing about me," she all but spits venomously in your face.
"You're partially right, but that doesn't mean I can't learn. What is it that Cinder has promised you to secure such loyalty? Why would you want to serve a woman like that who is a **** to the darkest forces in this world?"
She turns her face away from you defiantly, refusing to answer your questions. You press further.
"Is it money? Power? Respect? You can get all of those from any Huntsman Academy. Or perhaps you care for her on a more personal level? Perhaps you simply want her? Perhaps you want her to see you as more than just a tool? More than just a means to an end?"
"Shut up," your captive whispers.
"Ah, I was wrong entirely," you say with a small smile. "You feel indebted to her for bringing you in. No doubt a thief searching for scraps in the gutters would never amount to anything."
She winces as you pull her past out into the open light.
"I can respect that. Your loyalty is something to be admired," you state. "There's just one small problem; Cinder, and by extension Salem, are not only a direct threat to me but to this world and my own plans for Remnant's future. Now Cinder I'm quite certain I can bring to my side but Salem... not so much. A being of her caliber would never bow to the whims of another."
"Get to the point," she hisses at you.
You chuckle at her impatience.
"When we're done here, I want you to be my messenger to Cinder Fall. Tell her that I wish to meet with her with a business proposition and that it's an offer she, as a woman of great intelligence and power, wouldn't refuse. Do that for me and I will ensure you a position of merit under my rule. What do you say?"
Does she agree to your terms?
