Chapter 19 by zenxraider zenxraider

What's next?

Time Skip! Just a week tho

You spend the next week going through the motions. You settled into a routine at the school getting accustomed to your new life as well as helping keep Glynda Goodwitch in good spirits with your nightly visits. You had also come to select a signature weapon of your own, a pair of katar-energy gun hybrids whom you've affectionately named Adam and Eve. Of course, none of your acquaintances in this new world understood the true weight behind those names, and when asked your response was to simply shrug and smile, saying they just seemed appropriate. Before you knew it, the week had come and gone, and you found yourself leisurely strolling down one of many streets in the heart of Vale.

You pull out your scroll and read through an IM thread you had going with Yang, whose number you picked up a few days ago. You smirk as you read the last message with an attached selfie; an anxiously excited Yang with Blake in the background speaking to the spa receptionist.

Here we go. Can't believe I'm actually doing this.

Trust me, it'll go perfectly, you type back to her.

Of course it would go to plan; Yang had you as a good luck charm after all. A quick bit of rearranging in the fabric of the Universe and you had all the chips in line to put the Bumblebee pair literally into each other's arms. You said the day was theirs, you had every intention of holding yourself to that promise, but you hadn't said a single thing about tonight. You close your eyes and smile, pocketing your scroll when you suddenly bump into a passerby with your shoulder. Stumbling, you turn to offer an apology only to be met with a stunning pair of red eyes.

You catch yourself from acting like a fool as Emerald Sustrai glares back at you.

"Watch where you're going," she snaps at you before briskly walking away.

"Sheesh, talk about rude," you mutter to yourself, though you honestly weren't surprised.

Emerald had a bit of an attitude to begin with, having grown up as a street rat surviving off of scraps and thievery. A hard life bred a hard outlook, something you could at least sympathize with. You turn to go on your way, content with leaving her be for now when you realize an emptiness in your pocket. You reach down and grope about to find that she had ran off with your wallet. You actually laugh at yourself for falling for the oldest trick in the book, and yet it still happened. Perhaps you had a role in the main story after all, despite how small it was? Now that you thought about it, today did seem suspiciously familiar to the first episode of Vol 2. You lean against a store wall and ponder your next actions, your omniscience focused entirely on Emerald and, by proximity, her companion Mercury Black. This could serve as a rare opportunity to naturally worm your way into Cinder and Torchwick's circles and, in the former's case, under her skirt.

To catch a thief?
