Test Her Too

"I overheard some girls mentioning the name a few times in a conversation they were having," you finally reply, pausing before you add, "In gym class."

"Gym class," Professor Aspecta repeats, her voice retaining that tone of curiosity even as something in her expression changes and you get the sense she is studying you more closely.

"Yeah," you say, meeting her own gaze as you try to keep your own tone casual, "It sounded like they were really interested in him but they stopped talking and got kind of angry when they noticed I was listening. It was... weird."

The silence lingers between you and you suddenly notice just how cold the room is, though you are uncertain if your momentary shiver is from that or nerves. Aspecta subtly leans forward and you notice that the top button of her shirt is open underneath her open suit coat, giving you the briefest flash of cleavage and what you think might be a black bra before she straightens up.

"Those girls have excellent taste in historical figures then," she finally says, the tension dissipating as it becomes clear that, either way, she is letting this moment pass for now and continuing her lesson.

"For, as I said, Roh'demus helped allow for the acceptance of certain behaviors of those in the wizarding world," the Professor smiles as she adds, "Including a few you have surely been introduced to by now."

Your cheeks flush slightly as you remember when Susan mentioned that Aspecta probably already knew about your having had sex from reading your aura and you can only imagine what it looks like now considering how much more you have had since then. In response, you ask, "So if he influenced society so much, why did you say he was so controversial that almost nobody talks about him?"

Aspecta nods at you as she replies, "Aside from those girls in gym class."

"... Yes. Aside from them."

"I will go into more detail as we study his life's work but, to give you a brief overview, others who were in positions of power, even within his own family, grew nervous about his persistent calls for an even more free and open society than what had already been established. Thus they conspired against him and, after his ****, did all they could to minimize his importance from history, fearing his students or others inspired by him might continue to carry on his cause."

What that cause was would have to wait, as Aspecta then moved on to speak of some of the other historical figures in overview and giving brief examples of their achievements you would return to eventually. One had found a way to ensure the barriers between the magic world and the non-magical one remained in a way that did not inconvenience either, while another found a way to incorporate the kinds of technological advances non-magical humans were making into the magical world.

The fourth had invented a perpetual magic energy machine that, while still too big to replicate for common use, was powering the entire campus's electrical elements as well as some other magical aspects.

The fifth had advanced the relations between the Hidden Races and was the reason why they trusted human magic-users enough to send their children as students and some of their adults to be teachers.

Such accomplishments by your peers in Void magics were... more than a little intimidating even just as summaries. After an hour-and-a-half of hearing about them, Aspecta seems to notice your nervousness. "But perhaps we have talked history long enough for today," she says, "And it is time to start understanding the mechanics of manipulating the particular energies of Void."
