Chapter 23
by

What should you do?
Show yourself. Join the party.
You abandon your hollow armor form and recompose yourself into your normal form. You don't want them to recognize you as Jen's armor, so you create another bark armor for her, you even give it a bunch of buffs to magic and movement. You also add a few details of your own. Her mask now has a hole for a mouth, her legs and arms are more protected, giving them more volume, and her breasts are now presses against eachother, making their shape more attractive. After it's done and on the spot you were left, you sneak back into the woods.
Once out of sight and a bit away, close enough not to despawn, you change your own appearance. The shape your body twists to look more human, with less irregularities, holes and flaws on the texture. Your members become smoother, giving a more polished appearance. Your size increases as well. You go from a bit more than 5 to 7 feet in height only at the same time your body changes. To your face, you decide to mantain the neutral expression, but you give yourself antlers to add a creepy aura. After the changes are done you create a hooded coat made of leaves around you and slowly move towards the pair near the firepit. Due to your shape and the smooth wooden pieces that compose your body, you have a 'young druid' appearance. Which is good, people love druids.
The hunter is the first to notice you, he warns the healer and they assume a fighting stance.
"Who comes there?" says the hunter, holding his bow with a drawn arrow.
You walk away from under the cover of darkness and show yourself saying I mean no harm! Please, lower your weapons. I just noticed an encampment and decided to come here, to talk.
They don't lower their weapons. You notice they're trying to read your stats, but you're way above their levels and they can't see anything. They exchange a few glances before the hunter says "Who are you?"
You lift your hands to show you're unnarmed. I'm just a lonely passerby. I'm headed north, to the Pond of Amari. There's been a call. This hasn't happened for thousands of years This is enough to make both lower their weapons and demonstrate interest. The hunter sits down and points towards a nearby spot on the ground. You want to blend in, so you sit there.
"So that's what happened..." he says "We're headed there too. Our friend, a priestess of Amari, was called there as well"
I see...then I suppose this meeting was bound to happen. Perhaps...we were supposed to go there together?
The healer makes an uncomfortable face, the hunter notices it and responds "I don't know, sir. We just met, and we're a very close team. It might not be a good idea."
I understand, but wouldn't it be better to have more company? It can be a very dangerous road more to the north, on the plains, where you won't be able to hunt or fish, and the sun might be hard on your heads. I could assist you with these problems and many others to come. I could lend you my power and my knowledge, as a way of paying for the 'hospitality'. What do you say?
Liz looks to the hunter, waiting for his response. He then goes close to her and whisper into her ear. You, obviously, can hear it clearly.
"What do you think?"
"Well, he's right about the road and the plains, we've done it before and, you know, it's true. I couldn't even read his name, so he probably is very strong too... did you get anything?"
"Same as you. Well..." he returns to his spot and says to you "We'll accept your company then, sir. My name's Torr, hunter, as you might have noticed." you nod respectfuly "This is Elizabeth, our healer. She makes our potions, casts healing spells and is responsible for the cooking." you nod towards her aswell "And then there's Jennifer, the priestess. She went for a bath nearby, but she'll be here soon." Very well, I'm Dandelion. It's a pleasure to join you on this adventure. I hope we can get along well You say, trying to sound indifferent but friendly.
You sit there chatting, and after some time the pork is done. They offer you some of it but you deny. After a while you're making them laugh and tell you stories about adventures they had together. You tell your opinion on different topics and give advices on others. This is a very receptive team, and after some more time they've accepted you as one of their own.
Some time later Jen is done with her bath and returns to the camp. She sees you talking to her friends but doesn't recognize you. She goes straight to her tent and gets dressed before walking out, wearing the new armor. She probably didn't even notice anything.
"I'm sorry, I fell asleep in the water..." she says to her friends before turning to you and saying
"...who are you?"

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
