Chapter 16
by CrocodileHAZARD
Do we skip ahead to the time in question, or is there more to do before the end of the day?
Knowing your luck? Best not to risk a good thing.
If the fates had their say, you’d end up running into the next doomsday scenario concocted by another half-baked villain and you’d end up being occupied for the next month.
No, you are NOT having any of that.
So after getting out of the alleyway, you quickly seek out and locate a small motel chain that still had a few vacancies. It’s decent enough and the price isn’t outright robbery, so you fork over the money and get yourself settled until later tonight.
Thankfully, you don’t need to carry your luggage around. One of your abilities included being able to create your own pocket dimension. Of course, it was never as easy as “snap fingers, instant dimension”. No, you needed a TV and electricity to even get the door “open”, so to speak.
But one you had that, if didn’t matter where it was, you always had a quick little hiding hole that no one else could get to unless you wanted them to. In you private “channel”, your powers were at the height of their potential. “Reality” was basically your bitch, and anything/everything does without limits.
Early experimentation into your powers led to this particular discovery, and the individuals who monitored you and your abilities, believed that with time you could affect the real world to the same degree with enough practice and mastery. Still, you are a long ways off from that. Hell, unless you have an ability that either renders you immortal or at the very least unaging, then you’ll probably never reach that level of power. There just aren’t enough decades in a normal human lifespan to cover every possible angle to experiment with your powers. And that’s only factoring in the ideas you can think of by yourself: who knows what else is available to you that you aren’t aware of yet!
But back to the here and now. Your “channel” is home to quite a few trinkets from the real world. It HAD to be that way. At least, it did if you wanted to bring something out and have it stick. You’d tried early on to manifest something in here and bring it out. But the object only held together as long as you maintained contact with it, and even then it was not always stable. You managed to improve the stability of the object as you grew older and practiced, but near as you can tell this was about the best you could get it for now.
So no, you could not make money out of thin air: it would “lose resolution” and fade out of existence the moment it left your hand. You also couldn’t sustain yourself on the food made here: one bite and it’d fall apart. Sure, you could make a bat or a club, bring it out to the real world, and whack someone upside the head and give it a very good performance. But eventually it would break, often sooner than a real one would. Guns and other projectiles were virtually useless: the gun itself would be fine, but the bullet literally couldn’t get any amount of distance to matter. You were firing blanks for all the good it did you. Perhaps laser based weaponry would yield better results, but the understanding needed to make something remotely functional was not something you currently possessed.
But bringing a gun from reality into your channel and out again proved to be no problem. It was still a real gun.
So your channel was a nice, private vault that you alone could control and manipulate.
Honestly, you didn’t need a motel room so much as you needed the TV. Seems like kind of a rip off, but you never know when you’d need to be publicly available.
A quick check over your possessions in the channel was enough to satisfy you and you jumped back out. The trip inside took only seconds, even if you personally spent 30+ minutes checking over everything to see if you needed anything or not. The time dilation was still a bit wonky, so you didn't want to sleep in your channel if you could help it. Even if you got a full 12 hours of sleep, outside would probably only see 30 minutes of time pass, if even that.
Hardly efficient if you NEEDED to burn time.
So making due with the motel bed, you lay down and decided to take a small nap until later tonight.
Do you wake up on time? Oversleep? Or are you woken prematurely?
Welcome to Jump City
Titans, go!
You are a new face to the world of the Teen Titans. Are you a hero? A villain? How will your actions and choices affect Jump City and the world as a whole?
