Chapter 22 by Redchopster

What's next?

The next day...

You sat down in the theater, next to Sakuya once more, and handed her a note telling her your findings. She cursed under her breath, but thanked you afterwards. The two of you discussed your options.

"We could wait to get shipped off. We might have a better chance of escaping then." You write.

"True, it could get better... But it could also get worse." She writes back. "I think we should go for it. If we get shipped off to some foreign country, we might never escape. Not to mention, our lives would be a lot worse off than they are here."

You nod in agreement. Over the next few days, you finalize your plans. Sakuya manages to drag more information out of the futanari during her performance on Monday. Apparently, they were never members of the maiden's hall to begin with, but were held in separate cells for resisting Alex. They had then been administered something that made them go crazy with lust. The same thing had apparently happened to the experiments residing in the Unlit Dungeon, only turned up to eleven.

Finally, Saturday rolled around again. Everything was in place now. There was a knife hidden in a cabinet in room #24, the entrance to the unlit dungeon. This was thanks to a compliant green who had agreed to help you out. The plan was to go right after a performance. Normally, you would return to the Maiden's Hall, but this time, you were going to head to room #24, where you would enter the dungeon. In the meantime, Sakuya would create an explosion in the kitchens by igniting a bottle of alcohol in one of the ovens. This would create a distraction so that you would hopefully go unnoticed.

There was only one problem. You were still bugged by something. Something that didn't feel right. How on earth did so many girls enter the dungeon unnoticed. Did Alex just not care? Was she understaffed? You were hoping to have this question answered sooner, but it was too late now. You'd have to figure it out when you entered.

You pushed open the doors to the theater, and for the last time, you found Sakuya sitting in a chair at the back. She had a strange look on her face. It wasn't angry, but rather it was if she was worried about something. Understandable, considering the plan was taking place tonight.

You sat down next to her. She didn't even look at you, and simply handed you a note.

"Change of plans." It read. "I can't trust you not to fuck up the mission. I'll be going instead."

"What?" You write back. "Wasn't I the one that managed to get information about clients? I'm also a faster runner than you, and I can bench more. Maybe not much more, but still..."

"Anyone could get info from those second-brained bozos." Sakuya angrily writes back. "And it doesn't matter how fast or strong you are. You're too dumb to take care of the dungeon properly."

"I'll be fine!" You write back. "Why are you so worried about me?!"

Sakuya stood up, her face turning as red as a beetroot. It was dark in the theater, but you think you saw her eyes dart from side to side.

"I'm not worried!" She yelled out loud. "What are you, stupid!? We're through, May! You hear me? I'mnotdatingyouanymorewe'rethrough!"

She stormed out of the theater, leaving her stack of papers behind. Diligently, you picked them all up. All the other people in the theater turned their heads toward you, their mouths agape in shock. Moments later, they came up to you and offered their condolences. You casually thanked them, and told them you'd be fine. Leaving the hall, more condolences were shared. Jinx, your closest friend dropped by your room later and gave you a basket of candy. You thanked her, and lay down on your bed.

You felt exactly the opposite of how everyone else thought you were feeling. You knew Sakuya. You knew her better than anyone, as you'd spent so much time being around her. You had your assumptions, but now it was confirmed. Somewhere in Sakuya's cold, bitter heart, there was an affection for you, and this was the only way she could express it. It was silly, but you appreciated it. You hadn't felt so at first, but perhaps now, after being forced to spend so much time around her, you felt affection for her as well.

Maybe.

You weren't sure.

She WAS a loudmouthed, rude little idiot, after all.

You rolled over on your bed, and glanced at the screen by your door.

"Dear May. Please come to the doors at your usual time tonight. Wear your swimsuit." It read. You sighed, and smirked.

"Very well, Sakuya..." You muttered. "You want to do it so badly, you can have the honor. I can wait two more days."

You got up off your bed. It would be 10:00 soon. You got undressed from your regular outfit, and put on your swimsuit. It was an outfit you'd gotten while doing a poolside shoot. It was a white, two-piece suit, with frills on the top and the bottom. It wasn't nearly as revealing as the suits other girls had gotten, but you were still embarrassed as you walked out of your room down to the performance doors. Your final performance was upon you.
