Let the wizard decide her punishment!

Rose frowned. She was already wanted, and could face over a year in the stockades if she was brought before the guards.

"Now, I'm sure you and I can settle this without involving others..." Rose said, putting on her charming voice. The wizard's steely expression was unmoved by her feminine wiles.

"If that is what you wish." The wizard said. "I can punish you properly, here and now, and ensure that you'll never feel the desire to rob again."

Rose laughed inwardly. What punishment could possibly do that to her? She was a life long thief, she'd never be scared straight!

"Now, to punish you, we must teach you to feel shame. Shame for your wicked, thieving ways. The wizard went on. The crowd seemed to grow, and Rose saw many excited, leering faces. She sighed. People so loved to see a thief get her just deserts. Well, let them watch! Rose wasn't afraid. She stood defiantly, chin up.

"I see that you are a proud thief." The wizard shook his head at Rose's noble defiance. "Well, we must humble you and break your pride, if you are to see the error of your ways..."
