Terrible from the start

No sooner had Lauren disembarked from her taxi and arrived at the steps of her old high school for her reunion then things began to go horribly wrong. It was a rainy evening so thoughtfully she had an umbrella with her to avoid being rained on. Unfortunately this did not protect her one iota from the spray the taxi kicked up as it peeled away from the curb. It hit her dead on and in an instant she was soaked from head to toe. Cursing she yelled at the taxi to stop, she immediately realized she couldn't go into the reunion looking like a drowned rat, but over the rain and the storm he apparently couldn't hear her and drove off leaving her there.

"I guess I'll call another damn taxi," she grumbled to herself right but when she went for the phone in her purse she found that both were missing. It seemed that she had been so preoccupied dreaming about showing up all her old classmates that she had left it in the taxi. The taxi that was now long gone and which she had no way of contacting. So now she was soaked, without any means of communication, money or ID, stuck at the school where the reunion was taking place and unless she wanted to spend all night outside in the chilling rain, she was going to have to inside. Things just couldn't get any worse.
