Theology

My parents were very religious, so of course they impressed those sentiments onto me very early on. Is it weird that that I'd be interested in something jammed into my throat since childhood?

"I'm going to do the theology major," I say to Rose. The look on her face doesn't surprise me in the least, given her childhood.

"Are you...are you religious?" she asks cautiously.

"No no, don't worry. I'm interested, but I'm not a serious observer. You won't get any sermons from me," I assure her. She immediately puts the smile back on her face, obviously relieved. But then...

"Okay, but I have to admit something," Rose adds, "I was thinking about taking some of the elective courses; some of those sound cool. Do you wanna take one with me?"

Flipping through the school's course catalog, we come upon the Theology Department and peruse the available classes, many of which are open to students regardless of their major or lack thereof. Such classes are typically introductory in scope, but that's just fine for Rose, who's only interested in the department for electives. The titles include: "Voodoo: Fact and Fiction," "History of the Occult," "Cults and Society," and "Ancient Mythologies."
