Please select a major for Alexis.
Archeology
I guess the desire to find myself leads me to the major of archeology. To search for the history of man is like finding his soul, and it seems that Rose has a similar ambition.
"Hey, that sounds exciting. We're kind of similar: you look in the past and I look in the mind," she says simply.
"I've got a friend, Jonathan," Rose continues, "He's a grad student and he's in archeology. You should talk to him." She goes to her desk and scribbles a phone number on a slip of paper. "He's really nice."
"Thanks, Rose," I reply, taking the slip. I'm sure that her friend -is- nice, but I'm just not in the business of calling people up that I don't know. I've just barely met Rose, for that matter, and she -seems- nice as well. I think I just need time to settle in...start opening up, trusting people, end the paranoia. I hope that's true.
Later I'm looking up my options for pursuing archeology. There are, of course, classes I can take, but also single unit expeditionary courses, which are sorta like field trips out to dig sites in Asia and Africa. Classes I understand, but I'm really curious about these trips. Are they designed for newcomers, since they're only one unit? Are they good to take without any prior archeology experience? I could use some help, but it's Saturday, and the department counselors will probably not be available until Monday morning.
The slip with Jonathan's phone number is there next to my desk lamp.
Should I call?
