A second return

"Shit, shit, shit," you mumble to yourself, panicking at the situation. Even if you could use your mind control on the FBI, the news about your involvement in the website is widely known now and there's no way you could erase that many minds. Even if you could find a way to broadcast your mind control like an evil villain in a bad superhero movie, you know there will be severe and unintended consequences. You wish you knew where Margot is, but the location of where her movie is being shot is unknown, and you've already ditched your phone.

For a few minutes, you seriously consider teleporting out of the country, maybe to Russia or China like that NSA leaker had fled to, so that you'd be out of the reach of the law. You could even go to a country in the Middle East and use the powers of your magic rings to find safe harbor, however you really don't want to leave the country and live in a place where you're not used to the local culture.

In the end, your thoughts keep going back to Margot, wishing that she was by your side right then so that she could come up with a way to deal with all this. You're not sure if she would even be able to help, but at this moment, you would take just a friend to talk to, and she's the only person in the entire world who knows about your situation.

"That's it!" you smack your forehead, realizing the next best move. The authorities don't know about Margot's association with you and her face is obscured in the video. Even if they rounded up all the men from that day, you doubt any of them had recognized her. They would have said something if they had. Margot may not be home, but as long as you stay nearby, you can be reunited with her soon and weather this storm together. Activating your teleportation ring, you teleport to Margot's house.

The teleportation ring has never brought you to the wrong place before, until you realize where you're standing and what had happened. "Ahem," a woman clears her throat and you wheel around in surprise, seeing the person who had been standing by the window with a glass of wine in her hand.
