An unexpected hiccup.

Running over the wooden boards towards the generator, Nora slightly outpaced her husband. Unfortunately, she lost her footing, stumbled into an area where the planks of the second floor walkway they were on were rotten and weak, and went tumbling to the floor below.

"Nora!" Nate exclaimed, as he watched her disappear into a small dust cloud. The wind was knocked from her lungs, and her pistol skittered from her grasp.

The raiders were on her in seconds. Grabbing her vault-suited frame, a particularly beefy specimen knocked the untrained lawyer out with one blow, then hoisted her over his shoulder.

"Score!" He called to his mates. "Ain't seen pussy like this since that one time in Goodneighbour!"

Nate was about to jump down, or open fire on the kidnappers, when another band opened fire on him from behind. Diving for cover, he returned fire, wishing for a squad to back him up, or at least a few grenades.

He was able to see off his attackers, but by the time he was finished with them, the group who'd grabbed Nora were gone.

Shit!, Nate thought, first Shaun and now her... No, he resolved, he would find those marauding fucks, save Nora and then together, the two of them would get after the man who'd taken Shaun.

Returning to Garvey, Nate asked him if he had any idea where the raiders might've gone.

"The Corvega Assembly plant is where they're holed up. There are dozens of them there. If I know Jared's guys, everyone'll want a piece of your girl. They'll keep her around, and alive, until they wear her out." Garvey explained.

"That could take a while." Nate observed. "By which time, they'll all be extremely dead."

"I'm with you, man. Sturges can get the survivors to Sanctuary. In the meantime, you need my musket." Preston said.

With the civilians leaving, Nate and Preston stayed in the museum only long enough to retrieve the power armor and minigun that had been their original plan. covered in more metal than a feudal knight, Nate felt equipped to take on the raiders, even in their vastly superior numbers. The minigun did wonders to abate the feeling of helplessness.

Meanwhile, miles south of the Museum of Freedom, Nora was coming to. The first thing she was aware of was the splitting headache she had. The second was that her torn and tattered vault suit lay in a crumple on the other side of the room.
