Getting new shoes

To Jamie's pleasant surprise, he was able to spot a shoe store just passed the exit of the park. He hustled across the street over to the shop and quickly entered. He didn't notice that the shop was geared toward woman, his head too foggy to realize. He walked down the aisles looking for something to buy but couldn't find anything he liked. A sales woman saw him looking and noticed his lack of shoes.

“Can I help you, hun?” she asked, a little guarded because of Jamie's appearance.

He attempted to speak but nothing came out but a whisper. His eyes widened. He lost his voice! Was it the screaming he was doing running from the wasps or the nasty pond water that found its way down his throat in his panic? Either way, his voice was gone and trying to talk was painful.

“Is...everything alright?” The sales woman could see the sudden panic as he gestured to his throat trying to speak.

“Here, take a seat. It looks to me like you have laryngitis and guessing by your surprise, this is new for you. Is that right? ” she said leading him to a chair. Jamie nodded and tried to say something but she stopped him.

“You probably shouldn't try to talk, you could hurt yourself.” Jamie tried to calm himself down, since he knew panicking wouldn't help. He was going to have to set up a doctor's appointment once he got his phone back. The woman found some paper and a pen then handed them to him. He decided to finish up here as soon as he could and started to write. He handed the paper to her and she read.

“Sounds like a really bad day. Well, I can help with the footwear issue at least.” She instructed him to take off his dirty socks and gave him some disposable nylon socks that the store had. Next she took his foot's measurements.

“She is a little above average. I know just the pair that would look cute on her,” the woman thought to herself. She excused herself and went to find the pair. She quickly returned and slipped them on his feet then helped him out of his chair.

“How do they fit?” she asked. Jamie gave her a thumbs up not realizing that he was wearing shoes meant for women. He liked the extra height the shoe's heels gave him though he wondered if he would look more intimidating now that he looked taller. On top of that, they also felt really comfortable.

“You can keep the nylon socks, we have plenty. Have a nice day.”

Jamie smiled and exited the store.
