"Sure." you turn around. "Why not?"

You sit down on the riverbank next to her, letting your feet dangle above the water, as she sits herself down on the tree-stump next to you. You both sit in silence for a moment, then she smiles.

"John..." she says softly.

You look up. "Hmm..?"

"Did you...y'know, before you came here..." she stutters. "Have...singers?"

You stare at her blankly.

"Like... performers n' stuff?"

A light flickers. "Oh yeah!" she smiles. "We had a lot in our colony. Um, lemme see... Sritney Bears, L-Jo, Makirah, Lavril Avigne, and a few others I can't think of..." you recall all the times you had your hands down your pants listening to them. "But yeah, we did. Why do you ask?"

"No reason." she answers. "J-just wanted to see if there were others that..."

"...That what?"

"That... share my... love for singing."

You smile at her. "Hey, you're talking to one!"

She looks up at you. "You?"

You stand up proudly. "Well, of course! I love music! I was even in Choir before my home got... y'know..."

She nods. "Really? You like singing?"

"Well, hell yeah!" you notice that you've begun to cheer her up. Quickly, you give her a taste of what you can do, and after a minute, she falls over, laughing.

"What?" you ask, aware that you suck. You smile inwardly on how you've made her smile.

She looks up at you. "Oh, John... I like you."

"Really..."

"Yeah, my boyfriend Ash isn't really this fun..."

"Boyfriend?"

"Yeah... he's a bit of a jerk, really... and really high-strung... and not a lot of fun to be around with." She shakes her head. "Not like you."

You look at the water awkwardly. She already has a boyfriend... you think. Suddenly, you feel a hand on your shoulder. You look back, into Mina's beautiful eys.

"Want to have some fun?" she asks softly.
