Risk it all!

As you rise from the couch your mind races.

Of course you want them to stay... but is that really up for you to argue? You don't want to pressure them to give in to your demands. That feels predatory. Maybe you should just have faith in the power of the last week and how good it has been.
No. Now's the time for commitment.

As you serve some morning toast to Ollie and Vee, you are deep in thought. The girl notices your uncharacteristically moody demeanor. You think it through for a few more seconds before stating:
"I don't want you to leave."
Vanessa instantly respond with her usual humble spiel: "Listen, Asta, it's so kind of you to think of us this much, but you have already done so much and-"
You knew that she was going to do this, and you already have a counter.
"You misheard me Vanessa."
"What?"
"I didn't say that you shouldn't leave, I said that I don't want you to leave."
"But-"
"This isn't some plea for your safety or to make me look more altruistic than I am. Trust me, this is a very selfish request."
"But I'm not sure I could live with the guilt of having you ta-"
"OH, SHUT UP, VANESSA!" you yell. Wait... no. That wasn't you.

You look over to see Ollie looking almost as shocked about her own outburst as you and Vanessa. She immediately gets timid.
"S-sorry, Vee." she says apologetically and meekly: "It's just... this is obviously very important for Asta, and you're being kind of dismissive about it."
Vanessa retreats in her seat. You had kind of forgotten Ollie was even here for a second, but now you're glad that she is.

Okay. This is it. This is the big speech. The killing blow... so to speak. Deep breaths.

"Vanessa... do you remember when I told you that being home is not about being in a place you own, but it's being together with the people you hold dear? With that logic I have been homeless most of my life. I hated my parents, and I never felt at home there... not truly. I was allowed to sleep in their beds, and eat their food, and shit in their toilets, but I was never really truly allowed to feel like I was home. So, I left. No home... not even a shelter. And then I found this flat. And it got better. I enjoyed being here... but it wasn't home. Not quite. It was close, but something was missing. I didn't really know what it was that was missing. At least I didn't until last Tuesday. "

Ollie and Vee look at you speechless.

"Vanessa... Olivia... if you two leave now, I'll be homeless again."

At this point you've gotten kind of tired of the sound of a room going silent. You've heard it too many times.

"So, having us stay here indefinitely? Is that what you truly want?" Vanessa asks.

"Yes." you simply reply.

Vanessa nods thoughtfully.
She then asks: "What do you think Ollie?"
Olivia thinks about it for a couple of seconds.

Then she smiles slyly.

"Getting free food, shelter, TV, computer, board games, clothes, pep talks, love and care by just being near a person that I care about, and that obviously cares about me? Where the hell do I sign up?"

You can feel your heart decimate your rib cage in pure joy.

Vanessa looks down. Then she looks at you. She looks deeply into your blue eyes.
Then she smiles warmly.
"I agree."

All three of you leap up from your chairs, and you quickly embrace each other. Your head is nuzzled in between the only two women that you have ever cared about. And you couldn't be happier.

In a way, your happy story could have ended right there in the arms of Olivia and Vanessa. However, as it turns out (as it usually does with young people living close together under less than normal circumstances) things start to develop... romantically.

"Uhmmm...." Ollie stammers shyly: "We need to get a bigger bed then."

Oh boy....
