Chapter 8

Next morning. What will happen? Will there be sex soon? Spoilers: probably not. (I don't know what I'm doing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
You get up a bit late. Vanessa is sleeping, but Olivia is awake.
Aurgh. Why do you sleep on your stomach, again? Your breasts are sore. You drag yourself off the couch. You forgot to set the alarm yesterday. What time is it? Oh, it's 11 AM. That's a bit late. Oh, well. Wait, why were you sleeping on the couch? Oh right, you invited two homeless people inside yesterday. How could you forget that? You need coffee. Vanessa is still fast asleep. She is also laying on her stomach. She will probably also have sore boobs when she wakes up. God, you're still tired. You better wash your face.
Washing your face wakes you up a bit. You decide to check on Olivia.
Opening the door you are greeted with a small smile, and a semi-energetic "Morning!" from Olivia. She is still in bed. She still looks sick. She has found some trashy horror novel I had found at the library.
"Good morning, Olivia. How are you feeling?"
"Hot." she answered in a how-do-you-think-I-feel kind of way.
Here she goes with the snark again. You decide to play along.
"Well, I do tend to have that effect on people."
"Yeah, you're right, you do make me feel sick."
"In that case, you can just get out of my flat... maybe you'll feel better."
"You're just saying that so you can watch my ass wiggle as I leave."
"Why would I want your ass, when I can have your sister's?"
"Oh please. You have barely reached first base. I've gotten further with her and I'm her sister."
"..."
"..."
"Really?"
"No. You lose."
"Damnit! That's not fair."
Olivia chuckles: "Rule number one of snark: Never get distracted."
You exhale in defeat.
"You didn't do bad though. Much better than my sister anyway. She tends to give up after two or three."
You exchange smiles. She's a bit of a handful, but she is intriguingly weird and straightforward. You can't help but like her spunk.
"So how did she taste?" Olivia asks all of the sudden. You are pretty sure if you were drinking something when she said that, it would have been all over the room by now.
"What?" is all you can muster.
"Your new girlfriend. The kiss." she answers.
"It's not like that."
"Oh, you're just friends with benefits. Got it."
Who is this demon child?
"What? NO!"
"Really?"
"YES!"
"Oh, but you wish you were, right?" she looks at you smugly while she moves her eyebrows up and down rapidly.
"You're absolutely shameless." you say in defeat. "Anyway, you hungry?"
"I don't know. I should be, I haven't eaten anything in ages, but..."
"The fever?"
"Yeah. Appetite's gone."
"I have some yogurt. That shouldn't be too heavy. Want me to get some for you?"
"S-sure!" she stammers. Has she gotten nervous all of a sudden?
You get two bowls, and pour some yogurt in them. You put a spoon in each of the bowls, and boom, easy but boring breakfast.
You hand her one of the bowls.
"T-thanks." she stammers again. Ok, what's with the meekness?
"Are you alright?" you ask concerned.
"Y-yeah. I was just wondering why are you being so nice to me..."
You chuckle: "Yeah... I've been getting that a lot lately."
She laughs a bit.
"It's just..." she starts: "We've been homeless for some time, and I am just not used to somebody being so nice to me. You took us in when we needed help, and you've been going out of your way to make us feel welcome. It's really nice, but I'm just not used to it."
"It's ok." you reassure her: "You'll probably get used to it over time."
"Wait...over time?" Olivia looks at you with confused expression: "How long do you expect us to stay here?"
Now that she mentions it, you haven't really thought that through.
"Ehhh, to tell you the truth, helping you was a bit of a snap decision. You know, with you passed out and all. So I don't really know how long you'll stay here. But I won't have a clean conscious if you two leave before you get over your fever. It's still really fucking cold."
She giggles. She then looks down into her yogurt.
"S-sorry for being so snarky." she says, avoiding eye contact.
"There's nothing to be sorry for."
"It's just that, I'm not that much of a people person. Being snarky is easier than being sincere."
You place a hand on her shoulder and tell her you like her snark. She blushes a bit in response, and remains quiet. You decide to drop the subject for now.
You eat the rest of your yogurt and you small talk for a bit. Olivia surprises you with her interest and knowledge in science. You didn't really take her for the geeky type, but anybody who can talk at length about the tertiary structure of proteins has to be a bit of a dork. She keeps mentioning "polypeptide chains" like you're supposed to know what that means. It's nice to see her open up a bit around you though, so you power through the technobabble. She had finished high school at age 17, and was supposed to start college right after.... but that obviously didn't happen. She turned 18 shortly thereafter, but the hope was already gone. Half a year without a home changes you. She doesn't seem to want to talk about what happened that caused her to end up on the streets, and you don't want to pry.
"C-can I ask you a bit of a personal question?" Olivia has gone back to stammering: "It's kinda embarrassing."
"Uhm... sure." you say hesitantly.
"This is your clothes, right?"
Oh no.
"And you helped my sister change me into it, right?"
OH NO!
"And you saw my naked body, right?"
OOOOOOH NOOOOOOO!
"Uhm... did you like it? I-i mean, do you think it looks good? My body that is."
CODE RED: ABORT MISSION! THIS WON'T END WELL!
The alarms inside your head has gone off. A homeless girl with a very high fever that, whilst ****, you and her also homeless sister have dragged into your apartment, and stripped naked, and after awakening has seen you and her sister kiss, which she has casually made fun of on two occasions... has now gone timid and is nervously asking you what you thought of her naked body for reasons you don't really know.
When you lay it all out like that in your head it does start to seem a bit weird.
How the hell do you respond to a question like that?
Supplying a Winter Shelter
Two homeless sisters are for your help
In the cold winter time you find two sisters seeking shelter in your apartment complex. Helping them out turns out to be rewarding, fun, romantic, and a little bit emotional.
