Stand your Ground

"John!!! Run!!!" Alexa shouts at you, her eyes darting over to the door as heavy footsteps head down the hall towards your room.

"I'm staying here Sis... I'll face him here and now... I'm sick of running and hiding." You shout, drawing your sword and preparing for action.

With an evil laugh Enzo shouts, "Well now isn't that voice familiar...." His footsteps pause in front the door. The silence suspenseful, your heart racing in anticipation.

A loud crash knocks the cheap door right off its hinges, smashing to the ground. The hooded figure steps through the doorway, his face covered from the light by his cloak.

“Who the hell are you?!” You shout, already sure of the answer.

His arm raises, his hook shining from the light in the room as he says in anger, “Oh let us not meet on false pretenses… you know me John… and I remember you from the night you and your friend stole my hand from me….”

“Well if hope to keep the other you should run while you can…. No bounty is worth the other hand…” You threaten him readying your sword.

“Bounty…? Ha!” He shouts, looking over at your sister in the bed before looking back at you. “I am not here for just a bounty… I am here to make you suffer… slowly… It’s personal now…” His hand parting his robe from his side, revealing the hilt of his sword.

“I wish you luck with that… you won’t find my life easy to take…” You taunt him.

“Mmmmm I think by the time I’m done with you….” He growls, drawing his sword in a rapid, fluid motion. “You will be begging me to take your life… you should have taken my sword hand prince… a mistake you will soon regret.”

“Enough talking….” You shout, stepping closer.

“Please John!!! RUN!!!!” Alexa screams.

“Yes John…. You really should run…” Enzo advises you with a grin, a gold tooth gleaming in the light. “I do enjoy the chase… I'll even give you a days head start..." Laughing deviously he adds, "But I won't be so generous next time...”

You remember how hard Enzo fought your last encounter, nearly killing you were it not for your friend Lord Richard. But you are skilled and he does lack one of his hands, perhaps tipping the odds back in your favor...
