Emily knew what she had to do but she couldn't believe that she was even considering it. Then again, she couldn't believe what she had done to get herself arrested in the first place, either, so today would have to be a big day for her self-discovery. She knew that she couldn't lose her acceptance to college. Even if her mom threw her out after what she had seen while Emily was forced to leave the convention, Emily knew that she could make do, so long as she could go off to college.
But that would require getting her hands a little dirty, wouldn't it?
The cruiser was driving around in the outskirts of the city now. There was no one around for miles, just farmland as far as the eye could see. Emily knew that if she didn't act now, her moment would be gone. She just couldn't force herself to speak up. But finally she did.
"Um, officer?" she said.
"What?" the officer said. Emily was so glad that he didn't have a partner with him.
"Can you come back here? I need you to adjust the seatbelt."
The officer sighed and pulled over to the side of the road. "Stupid slut," she heard him muttering to himself. She hated that he saw her that way, but that was what she needed right now, as horrible as it was. He opened the door and scowled down at her. "What's the problem?" he snapped.
Emily took a deep breath.
