Chapter 5 by Snowflower Snowflower

Is Vivianne curious about the chamber?

Certainly, her goth heart is in love with all things horror!

Vivianne passed under the doorway. Most people would have to bend, but not our five-feet-tall Viv! Then she made it down the stairs and entered a dark room; and her high expectations weren't disappointed! The room, faintly lit by red and yellow lamps, was decorated as a **** chamber from the period of witch trials!

"Yay!" rejoiced the girl in black, as she looked around, fascinated.

The wax figures were frightening and heartbreaking at the same time. There was one old witch being hanged from the gallows; and next to her another one, a young and gracious woman, bound at the stake and waiting to be burned. Another beautiful girl was standing in a narrow wooden cage, her hands gripping its bars; she was clearly waiting for trial.

"Wow! Scary!" whispered Vivianne. She could absolutely relate with the poor women of yore!

Then she moved to the farthest corner of the room. The scene here was perhaps the most frightening yet. Vivianne saw a tall wax man in a threatening pose; he was holding a whip above his head, ready to land a blow. On the ground in front of this dreadful man there was another sculpture - a plump redhead, presumably being beaten to give a confession. With both her hands she shielded herself against the whip. Her green dress was plain, but a bit strange; it looked more like a modern dress than like a robe from the times long past. The curious goth girl squatted down for a closer look.

"Boo!" said the wax figure. Viv screamed and staggered and fell back on her bottom in a very undignified fashion.

The statue stood up, laughing loudly.

"You’re… a person!" blurted the blonde girl. She was feeling extremely stupid now; were it not for the insufficient light, she would have never mistaken a human for a wax statue.

"I'm sorry I startled you," said the redhead, when she found her breath, the corners of her mouth still twitching. "It was a mean thing to do. I just… I saw you how you were strolling around and decided to play a little trick on you. I'm really, really sorry. You know, there's normally a sculpture of a witch just where I was lying, but it had been taken away for repairs; and I allowed myself to take her place, so to speak. I just couldn't resist! But you are not mad at me, are you? My name's Agatha, by the way."

The other girl was so eloquent and genuinely excited that Vivianne just couldn't feel angry. "I'm Vivianne Blanchefleur," she said stiffly. "Well, I guess you can call me Viv. And about your trick... it was actually pretty funny!"

"You're so kind! Thank you!" said the ginger girl. "You know, I work here in the waxworks. But it's mostly a boring job. I mean, like, extremely boring. I have my history books, but girl, how I miss real people! Most of the hotel guests have yet to arrive, so nobody comes down here. Like ever. I hope that changes in a few days. You are going to work here too, aren't you?"

"That's right."

"Would you like to share a drink with me, Viv? Since we’re co-workers now?"

How does Vivianne answer?
