A Tragic Turn

A few hours passed as you lazed about and your mother finished her chores and put herself together for the day, when there is a call on the telephone. It had been several hours since your father had left, and you were starting to wonder when he would come back. Your mother picked up the phone and watched her expression change from uninterested to shocked, and then to hysterical crying.

“Mom! What’s wrong? What’s going on?!”

“It’s your father! He’s been in a car accident! They’ve taken him to St. Regis Hospital, but they say its not good!” your mother explained through her sobbing.

“Oh shit! Get up we have to go now!”

Grabbing the keys and picking up your mother off the floor you dashed out of the house and jumped into the driver’s seat after putting your mom away in the passenger’s. Reversing out of your drive you stomped the gas of your mom’s mini van and raced to the hospital.

It has been a few weeks and you were just finishing up the funeral. Your mother was dressed in a conservative black mourning dress and was surrounded by family trying to comfort her. Even with all that had happened she had still taken the time to do her makeup and make herself the most beautiful woman in the room.

A drunk driver had rammed straight into your father’s car while he was turning at an intersection, killing him instantly. There was nothing anyone could do, not even you with your new powers. You had accepted that over the last few days and now looked towards helping your mother move on without your father. You turned back to look at her and considered your options.
