Were do they go?
Too her hut.
Kalena led Kevin into the woods where a small grass hut was located. It looked old and worn, though there were some signs that Kalena tried to maintain it by placing palm leaves over some of the holes that were forming in the roof it was evident that she didn’t know what she was doing, at least as far as repairing the hut went. Still, if she didn’t build it, it must have meant that someone else was on the island with her, or at least was.
“Are you here alone?” Kevin asked her.
She nodded lightly, “Mother…Mother dead…Father…don’t know…Father.”
“Sorry,” Kevin replied, “How long have you been here?”
“Too long,” she replied, “Alone for…so long.” Kalena crossed her arms and hugged herself tightly. It looked like she was on the verge of crying. “Mother said…Father…grew sick…very sick…Mother…p-panther…” was all she got out before breaking into tears.
Kevin was a little concerned when he heard the words, “Panther” but was a bit more concerned about the crying girl in front of him. By the way, she talked it sounded like she had been alone for a long time, possibly since she was a little girl. As he watched the young girl cry, Kevin debated if he should try to comfort her or just leave her be. On one hand, he didn’t really know what to say to her. He could try touching her, remind her that she wasn’t alone anymore but at the same time she is a little jittery and could try to attack him again. Still, he couldn’t just leave her like this.
What should he do?
