The headmistress with some information

You look up to see Headmistress Naylor standing by the table. She makes a gesture of apology for interrupting then continues, looking at Mason and Brian.

"Excuse me for interrupting. I need a quick word with Mr. Carter and Mr. Watts. I've had communication from Valerie Cummins parents. It was in reply to the email I sent them regarding her probationary status. They are requesting a meeting and will be here this afternoon. Since you two were instrumental in getting her to amend her behaviour I would like you to attend. I have set an appointment for four o'clock. I trust that is convenient to you."

"Absolutely," Brian says. "Is there a problem?"

"With Valerie Cummins involved, there is certain to be a problem," Donna Considine says, drawing a brief frown from the headmistress.

"I believe they are seeking clarity of the situation," she says. "My office at four. I'll see you then gentlemen."

Lorri shakes her head as she watches Ms. Naylor stride away. "If that girl wasn't such a nasty piece of work I'd feel sorry for her with parents like that. You fellas are in for a treat."

"How so?" Mason asks.

"Daddy got rich, almost by accident, and couldn't wait to upgrade wives, getting himself some young thing half his age, since then, he got rid of that one and found another, this one even younger. Cost him plenty, but I guess he figured it was worth it. Valerie lives with him, but I think she's trying to compete for Daddy's attention. Tough to do when step-Mommy is only a few years older."

"What's her real mother like?" Brian asks.

"I only met her once," Donna said. "She seem down to earth, at least compared to the father, but Valerie and her don't get along. The girl lives with her father when she's not here."

"How did her father get rich? And how do you go about getting rich 'by accident?'" you ask with a laugh. "That sounds like a trick worth knowing."

"He was a programmer and computer analyst. He did some work for a start up social media company and they paid him in stock. When they took off and went public he was suddenly a multi-millionaire. Now he acts like he's Bill Gates."

"Anyway," Lorri says, resuming the story, "Valerie has complexes on top of her neuroses, and she acts out as a nasty, spiteful little brat. It's made worse by the fact she's not too bright. What did you two do to her?" You see Brian busy himself with his plate and Donna Considine cover a smile with her hand.

"We were forthright that if she didn't behave and apologise that she wouldn't play any sport here, or anywhere else. I think we scared her," Mason answers

"Hmmph," Lorri McKay snorts. "Shoulda thrown the little brat a beating while you were at it. Donna did last year. Spanked her ass, didn't you girl? She smartened right up after that."

"I told Mason about that," Donna smiles. "Looks like he and Brian found their own method."

"Well, you two watch yourself with those parents," Lorri says. "Daddy thinks his money gives him clout here. He forgets that all these girls come from families that could buy and sell him. Most of them have influence that he can only dream of. That doesn't make him powerless, exactly, and he can still do some damage. Be careful."

You look up as you see a slender small breasted redhead sit down at the nearest student table with three other girls. She gives your table the barest glance, but as she sits she pulls up her skirt as though to examine a mark on her thigh, showing off most of her shapely leg. As she smooths it back into place she gives Mason a quick smouldering glance before turning her attention to her friends.

You take a sip of coffee and wonder how many of these schoolgirls have their eye on Mason. Of all four of you, he seemed the least likely to be sampling from the cookie jar, but that look from the redhead spoke of yearning for something she'd had and wanted again. And whatever he and Brian had done to this Valerie girl might be worth knowing. Mention of it had made the younger man nervous, and Donna's smile implied some knowledge of events. From the description of her personality and family situation, Valerie might well prove useful and profitable, and you make a mental note to identify her as soon as possible.
