Chapter 34 by elmerstories elmerstories

What happens next shocks you and Nathraena. What is it?

The siren possesses the reptile.

As the reptile is distracted by the beauty of the goddess he worships so much, he is unaware of the conflicts and plans going on within the siren's mind. As you recover with a headache of your own, you try to ignore it as best as you can, touching the back of your head to make sure there isn't any blood. Luckily, you trained well in the art of falling and protection of your vital areas.

Most warriors who wear armor have to worry less about that, but as a ranger who needs to be agile, you can remember your wife teaching you how to better stabalize your foundation so that when you do get hit, you can lessen the damage. Of course, there's only so much you can do being human. If the siren wished, she could easily break every bone in your body if the pressure of water she emitted was greater.

Standing beside the drow, Nathraena looks to the path vigilantly and curses. "That damn siren. It doesn't matter what we do now. We made enough commotion to wake the others. They may not be all alerted since they didn't hear one of their own, but the siren definitely caused a rumble thanks to her attack. God damn it."

To say the drow's pissed is an understatement. As an assassin, she prides herself in keeping things tidy and minimally. She has no use for trying to be kind and risk getting stabbed in the back.

No, she's more pissed by herself. If she didn't hesitate, she could have easily killed off the lizard man before he could utter a word, yet she hesitated. Why? Why would she allow herself to have a moment of weakness in her own resolve? She's killed many before so what exactly is different now? She refused to let herself take all the blame, but still, it bugged her and only caused her to grow more upset with the siren.

Despite how you and the drow were upset by the siren's rash actions, the siren herself didn't regret stopping the act. In the end, she decides that if she wants to escape, she needs to take more affirmative action. As painful as it may be, she knew that it was either them or her. The least she could do though...is provide an easier route to pass the reptiles.

As the reptile male stares, dazed, he feels himself growing warmer below. As shameful as it may be, he was growing a hard-on for the goddess who he had the pleasure of being touched and cared for out of all his breatheren.

The siren pays no heed to the erection of the reptile. With a sad smile, only you and the minotaur could hear her next words:

"I'm sorry..."

Water from her own being then escaped and flowed around her and the reptile, forming a ball. The reptile started to grow frantic, unsure what was going on, but when the siren starts to draw closer to him, his mind relaxes. The water around him grows warmer and he the contact of the "goddess" fills him with excitement.

"G-goddesss...I..."

Before he could say anymore, he starts to feel odd. Widening his sharp yellow eyes, he no longer saw the siren in front of him. Being surrounded by water, she no longer kept her physical apperance and now, the reptile regains his sense of panic as he realizes he may end up drowning.

From yours and Nathraena's side, both of you stares incredulously at what was occurring. The siren had literally lost her total form and became the essence of water, seemingly drowning the reptile in a ball shape of swirling water.

"What the..."

Killing the reptile so tortuously was not the siren's intentions. After she feels the reptile picked up and swirling within her by her own generated currents, her expanded mass jumps away and washes back into the pond that the minotaur still resides in. He moves back against the wall as much as he can, wary of what the siren was now doing. Yet, he could not afford to leave the pool yet.

After the grand splash, gurgles from the reptile escaped from the pond and seemingly an arm or a leg splashed out before being pulled back in. The minotaur within the pond seem to hear the siren's cries over and over.

"I'm sorry...I'm sorry..."

Despite the siren's apologies, the minotaur had as little clue as to what the siren was doing. It isn't until the sounds of bones cracking and the reptilian cries became louder that Nathraena furrows her eyebrows and crossed her arms.

"What the hell is she thinking? She may as well let us finish off the reptile if she is going to end up killing him anyways!"

"Hold on," you state, not wanting to jump into conclusion. You could see it earlier in the siren's expressions as she gazed at the reptile, clearly conflicted at what to do. In her decision, she couldn't be simply killing him. In fact, with her control of water, she is far more fearsome than you realized. It's amazing that she could remain stuck within this pond and cavern just because she hates **** so much.

What a strange girl.

Soon, the shrieks of the reptile and ominous bone cracking stopped. Considering the lack of blood in the pool of water which is still glowing, it's hard to say what was happening other than the reptile being drowned. Neither the reptile or the siren started to come out and both you and the drow are alerted as you sense footsteps coming from the lighted pathway.

"Shit." Nathraena cursed.

You didn't like this situation and with Djarrus limited in where he could move, he wouldn't be much help. This really would be the proper time to use brute strength when there were seemingly a lot of lizard men coming to attack. Just from the rumbling, you can only use you hearing to estimate how many are coming. Maybe...30 or 40. Considering these lizard men were isolated and were surviving within the mountain, that was quite impressive. How exactly were they surviving so far?

Well, you couldn't dwell on that right now.

"We'll have to do our best," you state, moving quickly to find some cover and distance. You quickly swapped out your knifes with your bow. In this situation, not knowing what kind of weapons the lizard men may have, it's better to start off with a ranged attack.

Unfortunately, Nathraena didn't have a bow, but that didn't discourage her. She harrumphs, laughing at your determination. "We have been doing our best. Look where that got us!"

You chuckle in resposne as you and Nathraena got into position, separating away from each other. It was best if you could cover the assassin's back while she drew her weapons at the lizard men, but you knew that wasn't going to last. You'd have to be ready to storm your way back to the drow's side to help her out...if she need any that is.

As expected, there were a storm of lizard men coming out of the pathway, their movements causing some sticks of fire to blow out. The lizard man howled and screech as they see two of their own dead on the ground next to the pool of water and you and the drow with your weapons out.

"Intruderssss! We must protect the goddesss!"

As they shout in unity with their makeshift blunt weapons and rugged spears, you could only evaluate from the lizard men that came in that there was nobody with bows; however, that could change as more follows into this cavernous space.

Just before you could draw your bow and start firing, a loud rumble shook the ground causing you to almost lose your balance. All the lizard men stopped and a loud splash could be heard from the pool where Djarrus remains, his body moving back defensively.

Everyone present was staring, agape as the water flew down and what should have been the siren, rose higher, nearly leveling off to Djarrus' height. Blue shiny scales start to appear, mirroring the glowing blue water underneath. What rose was not a siren, but a voloptuous reptile, one that you have never seen before. Her body was smooth and the back of her head had spikes that look like ice.

The mysterious reptile woman stared at her body, rubbing her claws along her curves. After confirming her form, she closed her eyes.

"Forgive me."

Hearing her voice, you widen your eyes to hear the siren girl coming from her mouth. Djarrus was equally surprised but the new reptilian woman didn't stay around to let everyone try to make the connection of what she is. Instead, she steps out of the pool of water and with pounding legs, she stood in the middle of you and Nathraena, staring intently at the lizard men who seemed to be in awe and confusion.

"Brotheren, I am your goddess and I can finally speak clearly to you all. Release me and let us all leave."

What follows?
