Chapter 31 by elmerstories elmerstories

What do you do?

Move behind the right path to ambush incoming lizards.

There's no way you can continue hiding underneath the water and with two dead lizard men, it's even more difficult to show that there's nothing wrong. Swiftly, you step out of the water and with your knife ready in your hand, you hide beside the opening path that is illuminated by sticks of fire on each side of the wall.

Natharaena follows suit, a small smirk plastered on her face to finally be able to use her skills as meant to be and not have to hide anymore. She fits herself across from you on the other side of teh pathway, her eyes meeting yours with silent acknowledgement.

The siren opened her mouth, wanting to protest against anymore killing, but she was stopped by a large minotaur hand rumbling her shoulder. She looks up and is more afraid to see Djarrus agreeing with the current plan of action.

"We've done all we can to avoid fighting. That path is seemingly filled with lizard men and we are bound to go through with it at some point. Please stay by my side. I do not wish to cause any disruptions."

The siren frowns in response as she is **** to watch the many years she has been in captive by these lizard men, go completely south. The truth is that even though she has been in captivity, the lizard men treated her well, even if it was in misunderstanding. Their were threats that had came before and lizard men had sacrificed themselves for her sake.

She tries to think hard about what she can do as another lizard man starts to exit the pathway, his shadow looming across the walls.

"Yand, Jau! Ansswer me!"

You and Nathraena's eyes were filled with killing intent, both ready to take down the lizard man and prepare for the commotion that would follow. As his scaly footsteps stepped out, unaware of the silent thief and assassin by his side, Nathraena moved faster than you, grabbing the lizard man from behind and locking her arm tightly across the neck.

"Ack! In-"

Pointing her dagger to the lizard man's throat and tightening her grip even more around the him, he understood his situation and stopped trying to call out. His body quivers as he feels the drow's breath, tingling behind the back of his neck. As a reptile, he's highly sensitive to temperature and for the drow, who should be a warm blooded mammal, she was much colder than he expected.

There was a brief moment of hesitancy from the reptile, wondering to risk his life or surrender peacefully. That said, Nathraena hadn't killed him yet because he stopped so suddenly and froze.

The drow smirks. "Looks like you are a bit rational, aren't you?"

What happens next?
